My Taxi

This is a very, very simple film. An adult lady is on her way back to her old home town to see her father for the last time. As she travels, you hear her narration and see happy images of a younger her with her father. He is her hero, her strength and her friend. And, towards the end, you see the dying father and hear the narration as she lets go. Overall, a decent little film that may require some Kleenex nearby as you watch.

There was a bit to really like and a few elements that could have stood some improvement. I really liked how the film was manipulated using software to selectively color certain scenes--such as the houses and the apples. It gave the film a really artistic look that caught my eye. The music, while a tad repetitive, also fit well with the film. My only complaint, and it's probably due to the low budget, was the makeup. When dad was dying, he looked just didn't look old or sick--just like he was covered with Halloween makeup.
