James Badge Dale in Rubicon (2010)

FAQ

Rubicon

FAQ

The first season wraps up most of the plotlines. By the final episode we know what the conspiracy is, who is behind it, and, at least apparently, why they are doing it. The finale ends with a confrontation between Will and one of the conspirators and so what happens to Will and the members of the conspiracy is left unresolved.

It refers to the phrase "crossing the Rubicon." The Rubicon river was used in ancient Rome as the dividing line between Italy and Gaul. In 49 bc, Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon into Italy with his army, an action which was illegal and would be viewed as treasonous by his opponents. This action marked the beginning of the Roman Civil War as there would now be no peaceful way to resolve the differences between Caesar and Rome. The phrase "crossing the Rubicon" thus came to mean a point of no return.
