I watched this show for Anthony Mackie, and I definitely spent my time worth. Anthony's performance truly is outstanding. He brings into the shoes of the character(s) and helps feel the emotion that he portrays. When he talked about his children Wilder and Peg, that really made me cry (I just wish there was background music to really set the mood or the warmth but sadness). This is one of my favorite performances of his. I heard that he spent a good amount of time studying for this role and recalled his old Julliard notes, and IT WAS DEFINITELY WORTH IT. This role is far different from any other roles he played and was more difficult, but he still excelled! Congrats Anthony Mackie!
This was very an emotional script. And, very well done.
For the main character, letting go of his life and trusting his family to Tom was probably so upsetting, he was beside himself.

Mackie gives a wonderful, emotional performance; possibly his best. I can see why these actors jumped at the chance to work here; sometimes playing more than one character. It's evident within the first 5 minutes what the whole thing is about but it detracts not one bit from the enjoyable performance; unlike the forever screaming Hathaway in the first one. A must watch.
As was stated by someone else I too was not impressed by the first episode but pressed on. Anthony Mackie's performance, He is stellar in this. I urge all to watch.
After watching the first episode and being unimpressed, I figured I would try more. I am glad I did. The emotion Anthony Mackie brings to this story is impeccable. He speaks with himself as if it's another person. He shows two slightly different personas. And it's beautiful hearing someone describe their family like that.
