100 years later the ethnicity may have changed but there are still Americans who don't want immigrants

A fascinating episode showing how the Irish were being treated as they came to our country more than 100 years ago.

The parallels of what's occurring today are hard to miss. The only difference is, in the case of the Irish, they were white and therefore harder to identify as being foreign just by looks.

The episode shows that the struggle to become an American as long-standing and ongoing for those not lucky enough to have been born here.

As a white male of Northern European descent it makes me appreciate how hard some families have to work to earn the privilege of calling themselves in American.

Title comes from job advertisements in mid 1800s. A lot of places did not want Irish people working there and but No Irish Need Apply at the end which later got shortened to NINA.
