"From Dusk Till Dawn" on a shoestring budget...
Sure, while I had indeed never heard about this movie, from director Lance Kawas, I needed no persuasion to watch it, as it was a movie that I hadn't already seen. I virtually had no idea what I was in for here, so writer Mindy Robinson and director Lance Kawas had every chance to entertain me.
Writer Mindy Robinson, who also starred in the movie, wrote a script that borrowed heavily from Robert Rodriguez's 1996 movie "From Dusk Till Dawn", except for vampires then it was demons.
Oddly enough, the copy of the movie that I managed to snag was titled "Demon Hunters".
There are some familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Gianni Capaldi, Randy Couture, Dean Cain, Robert Davi, Richard Grieco and Michael Madsen. The acting in the movie were fair enough for a movie such as this.
The effects in the movie were fair. But the blood splatter and spray effects were getting mighty annoying very quick. First of all, they weren't all that nicely made, and secondly you get very annoyed with the screen being sprayed with CGI animated blood each time.
Now, if you have never watched the 1996 movie "From Dusk Till Dawn" before, I am sure that you will enjoy "Demon Pit" way more than us who have watched aforementioned 1996 movie.
My rating of director Lance Kawas's 2022 movie "Demon Pit" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

Unaware of its cheapnis
Thought it was gonna be a B grade Dusk Til Dawn. Right from the start it was much, much cheaper than expected, but there was still some scope for a future cult classic. I was kind of rolling with the home movie aesthetic. Then Michael Madsen turns up and I couldn't figure out what the heck he was doing in such an over-used and underwtitten cameo. After that, the pace grinds to a halt and it seems to turn into a Christian morality play. There is a lot of profanity, skin, and video game CGI to lure in the casual viewer, but the second half of the movie is basically exposition. What would normally be thought of as the third act is just sort of an aferward with more exposition. Lots and LOTS of dialog. Then there is a ton more dialog. I mean, I applaud the makers for taking this on and seeing it through. It's no joke to put together a feature length video. Ya hate to come down on something that was clearly someone's passion project because it's not like some of the flash streaming-service-priduced films that clearly cut corners despite having a budget. Everyone seems to have given it their best with what they had to work with. However, ultimately because the film takes itself so seriously and is utterly lacking in humor, intended or accidental, I doubt this one will become a hidden classic of the future. Nice try.
I'm in this but never saw it
I'm literally IN this movie but have never seen a screening of it. Where is it? I was talking with Randy and Mindy early on about being an assoc producer on this but was pushed out by others that LIED and said they could handle edit/ delivery etc but meanwhile it's been literally years. Years!! Where is it? What a waste. I'd have have it on streaming and Blu-ray in 6 months. Sad.
