    A sad truth

"Tarumã" interviews a female rural worker who dwells about her life situation where despite the many hard work she does and contributes with society as a resident from the municipality of São Paulo she does not get the needed return when it comes to provide education to her children, since the school and the principal demand that the kids must wear uniforms and bring their own materials in order to attend classes since the government don't provide those. Ridiculously different times huh, since public schools do provide for such nowadays but some do lack on those things and poor parents must find ways to pay themselves for clothing, notebooks, pens and others. It's a long outcry where she also talks about her working conditions and also of her husband, made to accept lousy terms in order to get a paid job.

Watching this short documentary that can make you angry about everything that's said since there's no chance of redemption or winning when it comes to people on such dire situations, and when she's asked if she thinks her sons will have a better future than hers she's bluntly honest in telling no, unless if they manage to have the same intelligence as the parents in finding means to survive. But besides angry you can feel ultra realistic (cynical some may say) since there's nothing new said there, and it's a condition that still happens around the world, and even worst scenarios, and I'd like to think Tarumã isn't exactly like this many decades later. I made a small research on it, and it's a quite prosperpous place, doesn't feel all that backwards in the way exposed by the woman.

If only we'd get an aftermath telling us that her outcry was sent to local authorities and a change was done in order to secure a better education for her children or new life prospects or better working conditions she and her husband could have benefited. Truth is we'll never know, there's not a sequel to it. Worthy of view due to the reflection given and because she's quite eloquent in her speech despite the lack of a formal education. 6/10.
