      Fun, twisted and wild

This is tied with 'The Double' as the best episode of the new series. It's not just a remake nor a reinterpretation of the original classic, but a whole new story that serves as a perfect addition and as an stunning example of how to balance respectful homage with shocking new turns that won't made it back in time. A stunning work by Paco Plaza and a masterpiece of the series.

Effective and competently made Paco Plaza horror telefilm in which a ventriloquist is domineed by his evil doll

Thrilling and frightening terror movie with full of intrigue , mystery , suspense , twists and turns ; stunningly written and directed by Paco Plaza . A bad actor (Miki Esparbé) is fired from a movie shoot , but the known director Narciso Ibañez Serrador , ¨Chicho¨(Carlos Santos) , giving him a second chance with a puppet and he results out to give a magnificent acting ; later on , some grisly killings happening . Nevertheless, all the good that the doll provides turns dark , creepy and sinister . More murders in the shooting are hideously linked to a sinister ventriloquist's dummy (Freddy) ; and it results in a really twisted ending.

Spine-chilling psycho-drama with a lesser than credible premise about a possessed entretainer , including terrific performances . Nice story about a ventriloquist : Miki Esparbé taken over by his dummy , an all-too-human counterpart . As Miki conjures intelligently and sweats mightily , while he becomes involved with an impressionable and beautiful woman : Adriana Torrebejano delivering radiating warmth as his love interest . This interesting telefilm contains suspense , thrills , intrigue , intense drama and plot twists . The picture succeeds because the thriller , tension , as well as a superbly written script delving into the human psyche in such extreme situation and dealing with a surprising intrigue with plenty of twists and turns . It is a remake to Freddy (1982) by Narciso Ibañez Serrador , though a different plot , the latter dealt with a variety theater company is heading to a city where it will perform for a few weeks ,and some the members of the show will die every day at the hands of an impossible murderer . While this Freddy (Oct 8, 2021) telefilm works on many levels , being constantly reconfigured and usually set at a shooting scenario and at a hotel . Despite its medium budget the picture manages to be intelligent, intriguing and thrilling . Above average terrifying flick in chilly proceedings with a tour-de-force acting from Miki Esparbé , here he is possesed by his dummy , this theme was previously treated in classic British terror "Dead of Night" (1945) by Alberto Cavalcanti that would be the best horror film about a dummy I've ever seen, ¨Devil Doll¨(1964) by Lindsay Shonteff and ¨Anthony Hopkins' Magic¨ (1978) by Richard Attenborough that was an intriguing and twisted movie aiming to be a classy chiller . Main cast and secondary cast are frankly well , Miki Esparbé giving his best acting , while Adriana Torrebejano is very charming and Carlos Santos provides one of his greatest interpretations as Chicho Ibañez Serrador's doppleganger . This Spanish telefilm starred by all-star-cast and was compellingly written , produced and directed by Paco Plaza, though it makes some tiring , slow-moving and extremely claustrophobic . Plaza is a good director with much success particularly in terror genre . He has written or directed with Jaume Balaguero the successful¨ Rec¨ saga formed by : ¨Rec 1, Rec 2 , Rec Genesis and Rec Apocalypse¨ . As well as other terror movies as ¨The second name¨ , ¨Romasanta¨, ¨Christmas tale¨ , ¨Veronica¨and he wrote the American film : ¨Quarantine¨ . He has also made some shorts and documentary : ¨OT¨ . And recent thriller, ¨Quien a hierro mata¨, with Luis Tosar and his last one ¨The Grandmother¨ . Rating 6.5/10 . Acceptable and interesting horror movie . Well worth watching for terror lovers.

"Historias Para No Dormir" is four independent horror stories that pay tribute to the classic format of Narciso Ibáñez Serrador, directed by and starring well known names in Spanish cinema, such as Rodrigo Cortés, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Paco Plaza and Paula Ortiz directing "La broma", "El doble", "Freddy" and "El asfalto" respectively . The star-studded talent in front of and behind the camera are more than enough to carry this anthology series to 4 enjoyable viewing experiences. The original chapter ¨Freddy¨ directed in 1982 by Narciso Ibáñez Serrador with Silvia Tortosa , Manuel Tejada , Fedra Lorente from ¨Historias para no dormir¨, this episode originally had to be titled ¨Charlie¨ but due some mysterious accidents during the shooting changed its title to ¨Freddy¨. This Classic TVE series formed by a lot of episodes based mostly on Edgar Allan Poe stories , as well as Ray Bradbury , Henry James, Harlan Ellison, Robert Arthur , Robert Bloch , among others , furthermore , scripts from Narciso Ibañez Serrador . Splendid TV series written and directed by the great Narciso Ibañez Serrador and many episodes starred by his father Narciso Ibañez Menta. It starts with a prologue in which Narciso Ibañez Serrador himself explains ironically and hilariously -in Alfred Hitchcock presenta style- some events to happen in the episode . There are several episodes , outstanding adaptions based on Poe as The Cask of Amontillado , The case of Mr Valdemar , The Raven , and The Last clock with Narciso Ibañez Menta . And other important stories shot as El asfalto or The asphalt , El Muñeco , El Regreso , La casa , La Zarpa , La Bodega , Pesadilla, El Aniversario and several others . While most scenes were shot in video at Prado Del Rey studios , the outdoors scenes were shot in film , and subsequently combined .
