Glorious Vistas, Eerie Atmosphere
Come Home masterfully uses a quiet, eerie atmosphere to build a creeping sense of existential dread. The film's intentional slow pace, accentuated by its stunning natural scenery, expertly cultivates a deep and subtle unease. For anyone who has experienced the profound isolation of the wilderness, the characters' slow unraveling is a relatable and powerful observation. The rich fall colors provide a beautiful, yet unsettling, contrast to the subtle psychological horror, enhancing the film's overall impact.
It's perfect for a slow, cloudy autumn afternoon.

One of the worst movies
Besides the fact that the whole movie you are waiting for the climax of the movie, then you just hope for some kind of point or reason for everything or an explanation of any kind. The only good thing in this movie was the view, but they kept showing it over and over and very slowly...like you were waiting for something to happen..but nothing ever did! It was the same scenery too that it kept going back to, I even think some of it was pictures because you can't always see the water moving even. So basically this movie was about people walking into the woods, constant pictures of slow watching scenery on repeat of the same areas then an abrupt ending that gave no reason for the point of the film...it just ended. Horrible writing and everything! Wish I read these reviews first instead of wasting our time!!
Was there a point?
I watched this movie late, after watching Beezel. With over 4 stars on Prime, seemed like a solid bet.
The best part of this movie is the filming locations for the lake. At least a quarter of the film must be just scenery shots.
The rest is just a wandering slog of NYC city-slickers drifting around the cabin and nearby trails. We learn the local rural folks are probably racist because they're rural, and there's some kind of lore about the woods.
One of the gals kayaks in the lake and a dead snake is thrown into her boat. One of the guys gets lost in the woods, his girlfriend maybe finds him, then there are unexplained trancelike interactions. A local confronts the wife who stayed back at the cabin about looking for her husband, and the whole exchange feels as natural as a Twinkie.
But nothing is scary, nothing sets up dread, and we don't have any explanation for any of the weird behavior. This movie is more than an hour of wandering around with strained dialogue and bizarre behavior that's never fully explored. It would make more sense if they were all on drugs.
Lovely, Dark, and Deep is what you're looking for. Don't watch this unless you need pointless background noise.

Not sure what this movie is about
First, Come Home is beautifully shot. The cinematography is spot on, and I could tell, early on, that the director needed to lean on that because there wasn't much of a story. I cannot comment on the acting because there was no real depth exhibited, or expected, from any of the actors. I tried to research the plot, but there was really nothing out there on the net. I suppose the movie is centered around a haunted forest that draws people in and doesn't let them out. This is just my speculation. I have no idea what the plot was all about because instead of building a competent story, the director feeds us these long, extended long-shots of the forest...doing nothing. I don't mind indie movies, and I do appreciate the collaborative effort needed to get a project green lighted and shot. But please, at least put forth some effort in the writing. Most of these indies have horrendous writing and the direction can't save it. I don't know why good scripts are lacking because there's tons of talented writers out there who want a chance to prove themselves.
4/10 - beautifully shot, but confusing.

Makes zero sense
No idea what I just watched. No idea what any of it meant. I am thoroughly confused.
This was just over an hour long, but it honestly felt like it dragged out for hours.
Especially the extended scenes of just nature shots...so many nature shots.
Beautiful scenery but absolutely useless to any story. This feels like an art project with a bit too large of a budget.
And wtf was that "end"? I don't have any idea what happened and why.
Crazy bad.
