    Malice

On my watchlists, but my husband persuaded me to give "Malice" a chance during our movie night. With a runtime of only 45 minutes, I figured, "why not?" and it turned out to be a decent watch. While I may not be a fan of gory scenes and jump scares, "Malice" managed to keep me engaged from start to finish with its intriguing plot.

One of the standout aspects of the film was the performance of Mya Lazorka as Keo. Her portrayal of the character brought depth and vulnerability, making Keo a relatable and sympathetic character. I found myself emotionally invested in her journey as she confronted her haunting past and battled against the vengeful forces that plagued her.

Again, 'B Movies' aren't my cup of tea, "Malice", however, showcased the creativity and resourcefulness of the filmmakers. I think they do a good job in effectively immersing the audience in the eerie world of the film. It's impressive to see what can be achieved with limited resources when coupled with a strong vision and passionate filmmaking.

The downside, I found myself wanting for more exploration of certain storyline elements. The film touched upon intriguing themes of obsession and revenge, but I couldn't help but wish for a deeper dive into these aspects. Nevertheless, the concise runtime of the film allowed for a focused and concise narrative that kept the tension and intrigue intact.

While I may have had reservations about horror films and 'B movies,' this experience reminded me that great storytelling can be found in unexpected places. It serves as a reminder that as movie enthusiasts, we should be open to stepping outside of our comfort zones and embracing diverse films.

"Malice" surpassed my initial expectations and left me with a newfound appreciation for micro-budget films. Its blend of Chinese folklore and suspenseful storytelling made for an engaging viewing experience. I encourage others, even those who might not typically gravitate towards horror films, to give "Malice" a chance and discover the hidden gems that lie beyond our usual preferences.

It's not a Hollywood blockbuster but it's definitely worth watching

I really enjoyed this movie. As i've noted above, it's no Hollywood blockbuster but it is delivered well, as a budget horror movie.

It could do with a little more polishing but i thought the rough edges gave the movie a gritty character.

The audio and visuals were also not perfect but did well to immerse the viewer into the world of Malice.

I also felt the scenes flowed well into each other and kept the viewer engaged.

In summary, this movie is not perfect but it is delivered well and manages to provide an engaging experience. Thank you and well done to all involved in the production of this movie.

    Malice a must-watch

As a Gold Coast local, watching 'Malice: Nu Gui' was a cool experience. It felt like a journey through our own backyard. The film shows off some of the most intriguing locations in our area, and it's a thrill to recognize them on my big screen tv.

From the awesome scenes in the abandoned Mental asylum to the stylish Maggie Choo restaurant in Broadbeach, every location feels like a piece of our own world, beautifully captured and infused with a sense of mystery and horror. It's a reminder of the gems we have right here on the Gold Coast.

And speaking of gems, let's not forget about my personal favourite, Kua Thai Restaurant! Wow! I've had many a meal there. This brings me to the awkward date scene which was filmed there. I loved it! Hilarious! I liked how the scene adds a touch of comedy to this little horror story. Jake aka Joe as an obnoxious American was hilarious!

But beyond the local pride, 'Malice: Nu Gui' stands out as a fast-paced indie gem that keeps you hooked. The filmmakers who've not only brought our beloved locations to life but also delivered a story that keeps us engaged to the end.

So, as a Gold Coast local who appreciates the thrill of recognizing familiar places on the screen and enjoys the delectable dishes at Kua Thai, watching this film is more than just entertainment; it's a chance to see our home in a whole new light. If you're like me and appreciate the thrill of recognizing familiar places and capping off your movie night with a visit to Kua Thai, 'Malice: Nu Gui' is a must-watch.

First horror movie I watched in 20 years!

I am not usually a horror fan but I did enjoy this one! A couple of slightly gory scenes which I looked away for.. but otherwise this is pretty entertaining all round. I enjoyed the cultural backstory, the tale of the Malice curse & how the story is woven into the present day. I also found it visually beautiful with some gorgeous artwork & appreciated the artistry & atmosphere of the scenes. Also loved the humour and the authenticity of the dialogue, it really engaged me from the start. Some great young actors here also. Would definitely recommend to non-horror watchers if you want to broaden your horizons.

Incredible Australian Indie film by Chaz Fenwick

I found this little gem of a film on Tubi, titled, "Malice". I thought it was an interesting take on the Chinese folklore legend of the nu gui set in a modern world of Brisbane, Australia. This is an indie film made on a modest budget, so I was impressed with its production values and it's grounded storyline.

What I didn't like, the film was only 47 minutes! It definitely could have been longer. I hope they continue the story as it was left open for more. Especially the character of Keo, played by Mya Lazorka. She did a fantastic job at bringing a mentally tormented woman to life! My favourite scenes featured her.
