Yeah, I think Rick and Morty is great, aside from the gross out episodes, and Community remains a classic. Dan Harman's bee branching out a little with some side projects, all of which seem great by me, and all of which the usual MacDonalds Szechuan Sauce fans don't like. No doubt that this show isn't one of the best ever; but it's clever with how it plays with Greek Mythology, at the same time providing a good smile or laugh every 30 seconds or so. It remind me quite a bit of Disenchantment, which isn't as good as Futurama, but because its humour, plot lines and character progression is different from R&M doesn't make it not worth a few good hours of our lives to watch. It's weird, because compared to the appalling comedies out there like the generic sofa sitcom, or the like of Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon, which people seem to love. The Dan Harmon fans are unwilling to keep a more than half decent comedy on air with poor reviews, so it will just be cancelled, by the Networks who won't produce interesting imaginative and thought provoking shows, isn't stay with the generic sitcom that pull in the wider audience. Advertisers love the demographic this brings in, and the only way to keep 'our' stuff on air is to support it. Nope, it isn't the greatest, but it beats the majority out there by miles. Give it a go, if
You know your Greek Mythology it's clever and it is funny:)

I see some of the reviews on here that are between 1-3 stars which is just extreme. Lets be real, this show is not a great show. Its not that funny, the story is not engaging and I couldn't relate, connect or care for any of the characters in this show. I gave it a shot and watched 2 episodes.
Its not a terrible show and does have some entertainment value. It certainly does not deserve some of the low ratings I am seeing on here. That being said I find myself giving this show a 5/10 as its watchable, has some level of story/plot but its just not a good one. The comedy managed to get a few 'half-smiles' from me but that's about it. Even if Matt Berry is doing the voice work, it doesn't really matter when the writing is not good. I mean you could have Brad Pit doing voice work on the show, but if the writing is not good it won't matter right?
I can't really relate this show to any current toons being produced. Its not clever, rude and funny like Rick and Morty. Its not dumb, funny and over the top like the Simpsons. I suppose its unique in the fact that it doesn't fit with anything out there, but when its a boring generic un-funny cartoon with poor writing I suppose it might match up with other shows that were cancelled.
My recommendation: If you are bored and have nothing else to watch this show is a good way to kill some time as it DOES have some entertainment value. Just go in with low expectations and you will be ok. 5/10.

Seems like people didn't give this show much of a chance considering how many 1-3 star reviews popped up after just the first episode or two. Yes it's not R&M or Community but damn people at least wait until after the first few episodes to leave such bad reviews.
Really this show is in the 5-7~ range IMO, parts are good and parts are bad but it does have its moments. If you like Greek mythology and goofy comedy it's entertaining at least, the setting is interesting and the style of humor does seem a bit more like Community than R&M though it shares themes with both like dysfunctional family dynamics.
Seems like the kind of show that will improve over the first couple seasons as it spends more time world building and building up the character dynamics. Wasn't sure about it during the first few episodes but it does improve and going in blind helped, if you have high expectations you'll probably be disappointed but it seems like a lot of people are being overly harsh due to it not being Rick and Morty 2.0.
Hopefully it gets another season or two and a chance to improve.

I will start this by saying I don't think this is a perfect show but I did enjoy the first few episodes. A lot of people were complaining about how it doesn't measure up to Rick and Morty. A valid but pointless observation in my opinion. This isn't Rick and Morty set in the past and that's what we need. Rick and Morty was lighting in a bottle not every show is going to be a home-run from the start but there's plenty of shows that didn't have a strong start and now are phenomenal Bob's Burgers being one. I think if you just ignore Dan Harmon's name and watch it don't think about the drunk science man show and critique it for not being that show. I think you will find yourself enjoying most of the first 3 episodes at the least. Now my really big issue with it that I just couldn't seem to look past is the voice acting from Matt Berry seems a little wooden to me and can't look past it. The first episode does start a little rocky but I thought the second two were completely better and have no where to go up from there. While the episodes aren't perfect I will say they are more consistently funny than new Family Guy episodes. Long story short. ITS NOT RICK AND MORTY GET OVER IT. Berry could do better. Give it a chance I think you will find a new comfort show for humor in this comedic romp through the Age of Mythology.

I feel like too many people have too high of expectations of this show, seeing as it came from the mind of Dan Harmon, one of the creators and the main writer for Rick and Morty. But here's the part that blows my mind: It's a LOT like Rick and Morty. It carries the same quick-witted humor and social/familial dilemmas, all while having fun reinventing the origins of many aspects to mankind, with a heavy Greek myth twist.
It starts out a bit off, to be honest. I felt like the modern speech infused with ancient Greek times was a tad annoying. I feared this show was going to try too hard, and just end up flopping. It had that atmosphere the first episode.
I am glad I stuck through it because it only took me through the second episode to really start getting into it. A lot of the fun has to do with putting fun spins on Greek gods. It exposes the Greek gods for what they really are: just like mortal humans, only with the gift of immortality. They're just as egocentric, crooked, zany, and erratic as mankind. They have family problems. They are NOT all-knowing, and they can have feelings.
Let's just take a moment to mention how awesome Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade are. I might be biased as a huge "The IT Crowd" fan, but those guys are just great. And I'm fast becoming a huge fan of the character Hippocampus, for a fish he's really got some huge balls. The way he deals with characters like Prometheus, or even his own step-mom. Pretty badass.
There is a lot of subtle humor too. Silly humor, cynicism, dark humor, irony, you know, the fun stuff. Like Deliria forcing two mortals to fan her while basking next to large fire lanterns. Or how little the lives of mortals are valued, by both gods and humans (and monsters). It's a good show, give it a try if you like adult animation and Greek mythology.

I'm a huge fan of Dan Harmon so my expectations for this were high. Unfortunately this show didn't come anywhere close to meeting those expectations. I love the concept and the cast, but this show ultimately lets its own potential down.
The first issue that stuck out like a sore thumb was the poor comedic timing. Harmon's comedic timing is usually on point, but this felt way off. In fact it felt similar to other Fox duds like Duncanville or Housebroken.
The show isn't horrible, and it did manage to get a few chuckles from me, but I need more than that from a comedy. Both Community and Rick & Morty managed to make me laugh out loud with nearly every single episode. They also managed to make me care about their stories with each episode. That didn't happen with Krapopolis. The stories here are boring, the characters are boring, and the comedy is boring.
I'm honestly shocked that this is a Dan Harmon show because the quality I associate Harmon with is nowhere to be found. I wanted this to be so much more, but sadly it ended it being on par with the typical mediocrity found in modern Fox animated shows like Duncanville.

Just look how many of these bad reviews give ridiculously over the top score and/or clearly have an agenda.
If they're not even talking about shows that have little to nothing to do with this one.
One of them even admits watching 5 mere minutes of it before deciding to quit and give it a 1/10.
One other cries something about cultural appropriation like the most unhinged alt-right bozo you could find on the internet.
I'm only on episode 5, but I'm really enjoying it so far.
It's really funny and pretty clever, too.
Definetly a Dan Harmon show. And I suspect, like most great shows in the making, it hasn't even found its pace yet.

My mouth was literally hanging open in astonishment after the first 5 minutes of this aptly named piece of Krapopolis. That's how incredibly bad this show is, shame on you Dan Harmon for trading on your hits (like the wonderful Rick & Morty) in order to sell this garbage to a network. The jokes are never ending and never funny. The humor is at best childish and the sort of thing you're likely to hear on a middle school playground, full of references to bodily functions and sex written by idiots who understand neither. The show is crude, stupid, dumbed down to the point of absurdity and above all, not funny. Krapopolis truly deserves it name.

"Krapopolis" isn't looking to be a shadow of "Rick and Morty," rather, it shines with its own distinct light. The discord from some "Rick and Morty" enthusiasts shouldn't deter you from giving this gem a chance.
Right from the outset, the show entices with its smart, witty humor and creative storytelling, showcasing an inviting new world teeming with engaging characters and sharp dialogues.
The debut episodes, in particular, are a breath of fresh air that breaks free from the expected, delivering clever humor that rewards those with a penchant for intellectual engagement. There's a distinctive creative spark in "Krapopolis" that sets it apart, embracing a fresh narrative trajectory that's both adventurous and humorously enriching.
It's clear that a wealth of thought and creativity backs this show, making it a standalone entity worth every minute. Give it a shot, and you might find yourself delightfully awaiting what comedic brilliance the next episode will unfold.

Krapopolis isn't a bad show at all actually. I'd say it's like a 6.5.
My main problem with the show is how inconsistent the quality is. You'll get good episodes like the forest party one with the wood nymphs, the evil tail, or the hydra episode, and then you'll get subpar ones like the ice week episode or the crown thief one. It's just frustrating because technically season 2 aired with the first so the second season airing right now is actually the third, so you'd think the show would be developed and already solved with the issues in the first season, which to be honest, the first season had some of the show's best episodes. But no it's just too inconsistent to be called a great show and that's the problem.
For characters, Tyrannis is just not very interesting and it's hard to care about him because he's just boring and episodes where he does shine like the evil tail one are all very predictable in the end. The most interesting characters are Stupendous and Hippocampus. They are easily the two best characters in the show and I find myself liking their stories much more than the other three characters. They're interesting, funny, and have some sort of depth to them that the other characters lack. Shlub and Deleria are alright but they're just filler characters for me in all honesty.
Also, this show relies too much on killing for its comedy which gets old after a while. I get it's a show about gods but they should change it up every now and then. All in all definitely not a bad show at all but they need to be more consistent with episode quality, especially since they are in the third season already.

I like some of the cast that are voicing this and I'd watch just for them. But this is one I think I'm going to have to pass on.
There is just so little relatable content here, the setting, cartoon style, character design. So much of it just plain stinks. And for some reason every cartoon has to have a character that is out of place and strange and exist for no good reason. And this show has one of the worst I've seen. This weird blue bubble head fish character is just so dumb and out of place I just can't stand that it exists. I mean please work harder to create something that makes a bit of sense. I just can't imagine that character ending up on a drawing board and people collectively saying "yep, we'll go with that". Honestly, this thing has legs and arms but it uses some sort of mobility fish bowl? Beyond all that what's worse is that In the two episodes I've watched I've had maybe 2 mild chuckles. It's just not all that entertaining. I'll give it maybe another 1 or 2 episodes but I just don't have much hope for this one.

Honestly it's infinitly better than whatever Disenchantment was and way better than Bob's Burgers has been in at least 5 years. It suffers from a lot of the same issues as Disenchantment; using the setting as the joke without writing an actual joke, breaking out of it's own universe to reach for a joke, repetitive one dimensional characters, leaning on the performances instead of giving the actors any actual material to work with. These are kind of staples of all post-golden age comedies now though and the redeeming parts of this show are absolutely the voice talent and art style. I do think it needs to pick a side and either take itself more seriously and get shmaltsy and feely like Community or go full Rick and Morty and just stop giving a sht all together.

This show successfully entertained me for the entire duration. That's saying more than almost anything else streaming right now. I laughed out loud a few times, I connected with the characters and I enjoyed the setting. What more could you want?
It's important to recognize that the goal of this series is very different from that of Rick and Morty, to which many viewers are comparing it. For one thing, it's not over-the-top gross, nor does is it have a fast talking crazy man moving the plot forward faster than we can keep up. The humor is not shocking and the concepts are not groundbreaking, but it's also not attempting to achieve those goals.
Krapopolis is more grounded, slower and easier to digest than Rick and Morty. It feels a lot more like a Matt Groening sitcom, which isn't a bad thing. The question is: is it succeeding at what it's trying to accomplish? I think it's doing a fine job. I liked it a lot more than Disenchanted, for example. The characters are more interesting, the world appears to be more developed and I actually laughed a few times.
The strength is in the dynamics of the relationships. It looks like each episode is going to pair different cast members together to get a unique chemistry each time. The story rests more on the group rather than on one single lead. In that, it reminds me more of Community than of Rick and Morty. Like Community, Krapopolis might need a few episodes to find it's stride. Right now, I'm giving the show an 8, which is generous, but I can see it reaching a 10 with time if it's trajectory continues to match Community's.
There are three noticable weaknesses of the show so far: 1. Some of the jokes are a bit forced, and would thus be better left unspoken. I think we can all agree that being unfunny is not a good look. Thankfully, this has only happened a few times. 2. The characters are still a little two-dimentional. Aside from Tyrannous and Dementia, each personality can be summed up in a single sentence. I think this could have also been said about Community in the first episodes. 3. The stories are not as polished as in Harmon's other projects. Both in Rick and Morty and Community, you knew exactly what the objective and the stakes of each episode were and the conclusion paid off every time. Here, the story arcs aren't as well defined.
That being said, if the quality of the jokes stabilizes, the characters find more depth and the plot becomes more clear, which I could easily imagine happening, Krapopolis could turn out to be another 10/10 Harmon show. I'm excited to see if it does!

While there were a couple of zingers that earned a silly giggle from us the humor was mostly the same we've heard from most of the 'comics' doing the voiceovers before and sounded unlike they were playing a character role but playing the same tired roles they've been playing for years.
Some of Matt Berry's jokes and Richard Ayoade's dialog were mostly repeats from The I. T. Crowd or What We Do In The Shadows albeit with a mostly different cast.
While we clearly enjoy the other shows we were hoping for something different this time. I'll watch a couple more episodes to see how it develops but for now it seems very mediocre considering the stellar talent list.

...that was awful, truly awful. Two episodes, 42 minutes and I laughed once. You can only think someone said to Dan Harmon, any idea for a show? And he replied, I dunno, ancient Greece or something maybe? And that is the full extent of his collaboration. This is as far away from R & M as you could get; there's no edge, no humour and nothing remotely clever about it. Is this what happens when you go mainstream? There is one amazing thing however and that is how Richard Ayoade has managed to transfer his usual woodeness and lack of comical talent into a cartoon character - he has created a drawing that is actually a bad actor! That takes some doing. Not than anyone else with the exception of Hannah Waddingham seems at all interested in what they are reading/portraying. This is a very disappointing show. I won't be watching any further episodes, it just isn't funny.
I watched the first two episodes on Hulu, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The concept is genius, the art is excellent and the humor is... Funny as humor tends to be. I don't understand some of the other reviews saying it fell short or that its simply not funny. Some comparing it to Rick and Morty and saying it's just not as good.
Well this is not Rick and Morty, and their comparison is not relevant. I personally do not like Rick and Morty, and find it quite immature. My apologies to any Rick and Morty fans, but that is my opinion as is this whole review.
The humor in Krapopolis is just different than Rick and Morty. I'm not going to go into detail as not to spoil anything about the show, but the first two episodes are great and I can't wait to see more. If you like mythology, history, and a good laugh then I highly recommend! 9/10.

Dan Harmon with a cast full of famous comedians and actors really made me want to love this. Richard Ayoade and Matt Berry are one of my favorite comedians off all time. I love Community and Rick and Morty. But it seems these ingredients didnt work at all with Krapopolis. It lacked chemistry. It seems like the comedians read their lines from a piece paper. The characters never feel ' alive'. The slapstick, fast paced childish jokes feel rushed and lack creativity and dept. It missed quality from all parts. The voices didnt work, the writing didnt work and Dan Harmons touch seems lost.
I will keep continue watching this series, because i hope it will better and this is just the result of awkwardness off the cast doing these voices. And i hope that the writers of this show find their mojo so the quality of the show will improve. Right now its bland and awkward.

Season one was nothing short of wonderful- I'm truly surprised to see it sit with the ratings it has now and hope this is a case of the futurama effect, where a show gets more opportunities to grow and become beloved as time goes on. I rarely leave reviews but wanted to show the love for such a great show that is getting positive buzz on reddit and in person. I am excited to see how these characters grow on fox's best new animated show in a long time. The writing in the show is so clever and enjoyable; as is the casting for the voice actors. This show just needs a little bit more time (and more episodes) to become a cult classic.
I liked the 1st episode. It was new and fresh. I must have watched like 5 more before I quit.
The humor is not no my taste, it gets gringy. There is no suspense or mystery. The characters are weird and all over the place. It breaks the 4th wall too often because the protagonist 'invents' things that we all know and have in the present.
I guess it tries to be fun and violent but it's not to my taste. It reminds me of Disenchantment, which I didn't like either, and of Crossing Swords, which I love.
I don't get the point of this series. There are no stakes, no real arc and everyone jokes at any given moment. Very immature and not for me.

I don't get the point of this series. There are no stakes, no real arc and everyone jokes at any given moment. Very immature and not for me.
It's a comedy taken place in ancient Greece if greek mythology was kinda real.
The main characters are a family, where the mother is a narcissist goddess, the father is a sex hungry manticore, the main character is a loveable nerdy human who becomes king of a group of humans and is trying to create civilization, has a brother which invents things, and a sister that is a cyclops that likes to solve things by brute strength.
Most episodes show an objective conflict, some new part of human civilization being developed, and an emotional conflict between the relatives.
Opinion: To be honest, I came at this with extremely high hopes, as it was coming from Dan Harmon, but it was less than I expected. And yet I knew if I kept watching it, I'd be pleasantly surprised. And I was.
The strong comedy elements are usually founf in the takes on civilization developments and the myths.
The weak parts (and what most people seem to dislike) is on the characters.
Some of the funniest parts in Rick and morty come from their dysfunctionality: rick at the same time is megalomaniac, but says it isn't megalomania when he can actually achieve anything through his brilliance (and he can). Says nothing matters because there's an infinite amount of realities, but deeply cares about many things. Morty is at times extremely afraid of everything, but sometimes has mental break downs. Beth has abandoment issues with his father Rick. Jerry is considered so low value by Rick, that he uses it as a passive agressive tool against him. Beth and Jerry have a love-hate relationship. Etc.
While in Krapopolis the characters and dysfunction are much less extreme. The main character is mild mannered, a little boring, a little low self esteem, but nothing major sticks out. The sister likes to solve things with violence, but mostly listens to the mild mannered brother, so doesn't becomes that destructive, the inventor brother seems to only invent things for his brother, and doesn't do anything very extreme. The self obssessed mother wants people to adore her, and doesn't go much out of her way to annoy anyone. The father pretty much just wants sex and doesn't annoy anyone. So instead of everyone being at each other's throats all the time, they are mostly chill with each other, os slightly annoy or inconvenience, which doesn't take the episodes into absurd hijinx and/or hilarities.
Edit: special props to episode 23 of season 1. Wish it was a recurring character.

Great cast, terrible writing, basic animation.
My previous review has been deleted for some reason, but my opinion hasn't changed even after having watched a few more episodes.
It's definitely not worth your time.
Dan Harmon has had some great moments, and I'm a big fan, but this is definitely a low point.
Apart from being the creator he didn't write too much of this but even what he did pen is not up to standard.
It's a bizarre 'comedy' in an odd setting where nothing really makes sense or is interesting or funny.
The only thing I'm compelled to do after watching an episode of this is write a negative review.
I'm not sure who this would appeal to but it certainly won't be a large enough number of people for it to continue - it is destined to be cancelled.

I really like it. Took a little bit to get into it, it does have that Harmon style where it doesn't immediately grab you but once it does, it's one of the shows you enjoy watching the most.
While I can agree that it has slow moments, when the funny things do happen they are great. Deliria saying random animal exit and flopping around as a shark then turning back gasping for air was iconic and the episode with the Hydra was amazing allegory to social media.
Seen a review calling it another Family guy clone. Clearly some of these reviewers aren't even watching the shows. I think it's the best original Fox has made in a while.

I love garbage. I listen to Midwest emo, I still play morrowind, and I think 1984's Dune is better than the new ones.
This show is GARBAGE.
I reactivated my rarely used account to say how much I disliked this show.
How can a show with Richard Ayoade and Matt Berry be bad? I am baffled by how bad it is.
How did this get made?
Why did this get made?
I am baffled by this insane take on Greek history and culture. It's trying to be a tenth as fun as Greek mythology actually is. I would rather read the entirety of The Odyssey while listening to an audiobook of American History from 1820-1900 (Spoiler: it's mostly genocide against native peoples) than watch the entire season of this poorly conceived dreck.
Remember when Dan Harmon made Community and changed comedy?
He created this show and changed comedy. For the worse.

Intelligent and very funny, it's got a lot to live up to with Rick and Morty, and I suspect it will take time to find its style. However I laughed and for a modern show that is quite rare these days, normally it's generic PC humour or just repeated old jokes. The cast is great and the show has potential, not sure why it has got such bad feedback so far. It's very British humour and you can't watch it in the UK yet. Overall I would recommend it and it's not obvious in your face jokes, the animation is good and I really like the style. I missed a lot of first play through and on second watch I liked even more... plus the Krap chickens are very cool!
