    We're back

What a show it was. It was great to see all the people back together again in the same room celebrating TV. The opening number was amazing. The best Emmys opening ever and it was so enjoyable for everyone there and watching. Not all the skits went well but the 'No Emmys wins help group' skit was very funny. Winners were deserving and memorable moments like Rita Wilson rapping. A worthy celebration of TV which got many people through Covid with the entertainment they provided. Credit to Cedric the Entertainer and all presenters, producers all creators of the show.

The Only On-Camera Bits That Were Funny Were Bowen Yang and Schitt's Creek.

The teleprompter gag that was part of Dan, Catherine, Annie, and Eugene's on-camera bit was funny. How do you ask a room full of comedy writers to "lift" your dialogue and then realize that they wouldn't be reading from the teleprompter if it was blank?

Bowen Yang's 10 000 steps gag was also funny. The rest of the Emmys telecast was just bland.

Bad host and too much gushing

Cedric the Entertainer is just not funny or interesting, plus being happy & excited is good but for some reason many winners over did the gushing and thank you's.

The jokes seemed forced and over American, they really missed a Ricky Gervais style compère, it was to plain and sickly sweet at times.

If I was there I would have hit the bar 20 mins in.

    • Trivia
The cast of Schitt's Creek (2015) reunited to present 2 awards to Hacks (2021). There was a slight technical snafu with the teleprompter in which Eugene Levy confessed that he asked a room full of comedy writers to "lift" some of his lines off of the teleprompter. What a lot of people didn't realize is that the teleprompter gag was part of the Schitt's Creek (2015) cast's on-camera bit.

Announcer: From Schitt's Creek please welcome Emmy Winners Dan Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy, and Eugene Levy

Self - Presenter: Thank you very much, there's nothing on the prompter. Thank you, there's nothing on the prompter.

Self - Presenter: Is there like a tech guy?

Self - Presenter: Maybe we should just open up the envelope?

Self - Presenter: No, we're not just going to open up the envelope.

Self - Presenter: No, no, it's gotta be coming up. It's gotta be coming up.

      [clearing his throat]

Self - Presenter: Okay. They wouldn't be doing this to us on purpose, would they?

Self - Presenter: Why would they want to embarrass us on national television on purpose? Wh-why?

      Self - Presenter: I don't know? Why would I know? I don't know?

Self - Presenter: Why is your face being weird?

Self - Presenter: Eugene! Did you do something?

Self - Presenter: Nothing, I didn't do anything. I may have walked past the writer's room this morning and asked them to lift my dialogue a little bit.

Self - Presenter: Oh god! You casually walked past a room full of comedy writers and asked them to "lift" your dialogue? "Lift" was the word that you used?

Self - Presenter: I meant tighten it a bit?

Self - Presenter: And what was their response?

Self - Presenter: [Gesturing to the teleprompter] Okay.

Self - Presenter: Okay, well, somewhere out there are the nominees for writing for a comedy series.
