Should you even be able to give a review if you only watch 5 minutes? The amount of 1 & 2's from people who don't even watch and actually hate sci fi sorta affects the overall rating. It's not Blade Runner but it's nowhere near this low of a rating.
I don't get all the hate. I was almost scared to watch after reading all the bad reviews. Well the trailer looked so good that I did try watching. I've watched the first 3 episodes and I'm enjoying it. It is a little slow but definitely holds my attention. I'm going to keep watching because it definitely seems to have potential. Give it a try!
...It Is A Detective Mystery After All, (essentially), and an interesting one at that, despite the pacing. Visually it's very well done. The acting is average, has a few high points, but not great. Oddly enough, although unintentional, it works very well in many ways (or could) as a "Deep-Past/Deep-History" prequel to Raised By Wolves. All of the kernel elements are there. Despite it not being a prequel to that very odd, interesting (& dark) but foolishly canceled series, thinking of it on some level as just that has made Moonhaven slightly more enjoyable for me than it otherwise would have been. For that reason I've given it a couple of xtra stars. Either way, it's not as terrible as some reviews make it out to be. Just quirky, and as mentioned, meanders a bit like many detective stories tend to do as they flesh out & find their footing.
I'll admit I was surprised by the first episode of this show and I nearly stopped watching at that point. But there was a certain vibe to it that kept me on the hook and I persisted.
This is one of the most original sci-fi shows I've seen in a long time and like many shows that have that unique flare to them, they are misunderstood. There's no way this series deserves its current score and I suspect that people who didn't give it a chance would mark it up if they watched all six episodes.
Yes, there's some weird ideas on the show, but so what? And yes, the 'mooner' speak weirdly, but it's set several hundred years in the future - if you were to listen to someone from the year 1800, they'd sound pretty funny too.
The show has a great plot that makes you slowly invest in the characters. There are some great concepts in here too, based around the all-powerful I/O computer. The CGI is top notch too.
In short I don't suppose they'll renew this because it's not getting the numbers they need. And that will be s a shame because everyone always whinges about the lack of originality in TV shows and then when something original does come along they think it's weird and don't watch it.
Anyway - it gets a big thumbs up from me. Great concept, well executed, well scripted and acted. I just wish there was more effort to push the margins like Moonhaven does.

Why? They talked funny, they cursed in Chinese and I had trouble understanding what was going on. Of course it was happening hundreds of years from now. Now it is a classic and an inspired science fiction show. It was original and unique. So is "Moonhaven". The "moonies" do act and talk different though the "earthers" talk more "normal". But wouldn't people in a hundred years talk different than us, have different ways of saying things. Give this a chance; it is unique and different. I also didn't like "The Expanse" at first because they "talked different".
