This series is just as good, if not better, than the previous generation! But why are they cancelling it I hear?
The cast may be different completely (I don't know why they had to recast it, but I enjoy hearing Robert Tinkler's vocal effects), but they still carry the characters' personalities well. The animation may not be as realistic as the movie and not as in-this-world as the previous series, but it's colourful and vivid, and shows that it's the same world but just evolved. The songs are AMAZING and honestly hard to stop listening to (especially those by AJ Bridel and Sofia Wylie), those enthusiastic vocal chords and electronic sound mixing is rev-olu-tionay (as Pipp Petals would say)! Some stuff is pretty questionable (especially one episode where a character's mother forces her children to annually sit still for hours, risking heart disease and cancer, so just be aware), but viewing overall it is a just-as-good-as-ever installment of the franchise.
So, what the issue with the show's history? It's the upcoming CANCELLATION, that's right, cancellation! And why is this? It's all because of a spin-off series "Tell Your Tale", which happens to be more popular with the targeted younger audience. What all wrong with this decision? Well, "Tell Your Tale" is actually set in the MLP Calarts universe (the same setting as the "Pony Life" series) rather than Canon Equestria, which means that the animation style is much worse (as well as bad messages, bad logic, ect.) and that they are at risk of abandoning the universe of "Friendship is Magic". If anything, they should cancel "Tell Your Tale", so that "Make Your Mark" can have the popularity it deserves. Although TYT was better than I expected (not complete rubbish, it was a funny comparison sometimes), it was nowhere near as good as MYM (the worst installment of the franchise I've seen, I'd even go as far as to say it was bad for kids) and is irrelevent since it is not canon!
What they should do, is make this series go for 9 seasons (just like FIM did), and then make a trilogy of movies (theatrical, I do not want Netflix to take over) that can explain the overall timeline of all canon MLP generations and reveal the MLP multiverse (which has at least 3 or 4 worlds at this point).

I reluctantly came to really enjoy the movie after my daughter became obsessed with it and was so excited there would be more to the story...
This is bad. The animation falls flat. The characters move unnaturally (even for animated ponies) and are bad caricatures of the movie characters. Even my daughter can't watch more than 5-10 minutes at a time... there could be some interesting plot points but they're not well handled and it's so hard to watch to even get to them.

Not sure why the reviews are so bad. But it could be because a bunch of adults are rating a show catered to kids. My 9 year old daughter loves the show, the graphics, and especially all the color combos of the ponies. She watches it and keep pausing it to show me certain scenes. She noticed all the characters from the movie that was released and their stories. The story lines were well thought out from the scenes she had me watch, let alone there were a lot of funny scenes. Again, it's a perfect show for kids. So it's a 8/10 from my daughter. Good job Netflix for creating yet another good show for KIDS to enjoy!
It really looks cheap in every aspect. The world looks boring and empty. The dialogue is what a kid would play with their toys. The story spits out so many ideas which all just seem to try to beat eachother in "coolness". The movie is really loud at times. Like having to scream or sing out lines just to make the kids look at the screen again.
It is definitely back to its roots: My little pony is for kids.

When the Make Your Mark series was announced after the success of A New Generation, many fans including myself thought what the series would be after the events of the film.
I personally thought we were getting a season with episodic adventures before we would get a second season that would follow a plot and story.
Instead we were given a decent but poorly written 44 minute special that was... Literally about nothing. No really that's how I felt about the first special.
And when the second chapter of Make Your Mark came out, it had gotten a bit more lovable, but still didn't get the expectations from fans. Not to mention that the animation felt a little stiff, if not bland.
And the new voice cast for our new main characters were accepted by fans pretty quick since they did a good job, except for Ana Sani cuz... Well people tend to call out Ana Sani is trying too hard to be the next Pinkie Pie and I can't help but agree.
And over the first year, the series gradually got better with the writing and animation, giving hope that the series might be great over the next few seasons before it was shot in the back of the head and was cancelled by Netflix because we can't have anything nice.
Now we just have Tell Your Tale, the web series that airs new episodes every other week, and it's just... It's a wild show but I hate that the shorts are 5 minutes long instead of being the 22 minute length.
