The film was intended to be a head on collision between German expressionism and trash cinema aesthetics. The primary inspiration for the film was the work of F. W. Murnau and John Waters.
The only scene that abandons the stylistic approach is when the character of 'CT' removes her make-up and is lacking an audience. The scene was purposefully shot flat and grey to represent the banality of her behind the scenes life.
Despite good word of mouth and a cult following with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender community, the film was badly managed by the regional funding body who promised a DVD release and extensive promotion. The film has all but vanished. A few very poor quality uploads now remain, but fail to do the film any justice.
