Mantracker (2006)

FAQ

Mantracker

FAQ

In multiple interviews, as well as on the offical mantracker website, they mention that the camera crews are trained 4 to 4 1/2 years in tracking, and are able in most cases to hide their own tracks. They also use fake crews and fake prey to make it confusing for the Mantracker to know for sure if what he is seeing is actually the prey or not. This means that he needs to follow legitimate tracks in order to be sure he is going in the right direction.

In one episode, where a set of tracks crossed, he thought that one set of tracks were from the women he was tracking, and only after he had gone a couple of kilometers did he then find out he was following legitimate hikers.

In some cases, the camera crew will make him stop to explain in further detail why he is following a particular set of tracks.

One example of this, is where a couple of prey are crossing a river, and it appears that a camera crew is already ahead of them on the other side.

The reason for this is, that has been admitted, that after a chase is over the camera crew may ask the Prey or Manhunter to "rerun" a particular sequence so that they can get a better camera angle.

This does not affect the outcome, as this is only done after prey makes it to the finish line, or are caught. This is done for dramatic reasons.
