The Korean title, "gosa", means "exam" in Korean. It refers to the important midterm exam as well as the final exam that Korean high school students take. The "sa" is a play on of the homophone "sa", which also sounds like the word "death" in Chinese.

In the scene where actor Kang Won, who played the character of Dong-hyuk, that was bound and blindfolded, he was pinched on the back to make him scream as if he was being tortured on camera. The scream was real, and because of that, the scene only had to be done in one take which impressed director Chang.
