This film is a remake of the French film "District 13" (Banlieu 13) which stars David Belle in the same role as in this movie. Additionally, plot & other action elements are used from "District 13: Ultimatum," the follow up to the first film.
The Gate 38 location was also used in Death Race (2008) as a part of the race track.
