All Souls

Or Anora on the run - well no pun intended. And you may wonder what summary headline I'd have chosen if Anora did not exist - or I had watched this chronologically (so before her role in that Oscar movie came along) ... I can't tell you to be honest. Because let's be honest, while this is more than decent, it is also overall run by the mill .. or by Anora (Madison to use her real name).

So our main character has quite a lot to go through. Being a mother (having a kid) does not make things easier ... on the other hand it gives her reason to fight ... to stay strong and to never back down ... even when things seem hopeless. Good thriller ... but nothing that you will get too crazy about!

A forgettable movie that is semi-entertaining in its core, but failing in its execution, not-credible characters (besides the daughter and to some extents the mum), cheesy, semi-cliched, done-a-hundred-times sub-plots, underused or useless supporting cast, a weak writing that makes the movie having 1h12min of runtime and if it meant to show a mother-daughter relationship, it could have as well been made as a humorous comedy and would have been a lot more successful.

"All Souls" is an amazing movie that will keep you engaged from the beginning till the end. I was thrilled to see Gerald "G-Eazy" Gillum back on the big screen and he is getting better with each role he takes on. This time, he played the role of a villain drug trafficker named "Silas". He was also the father of 5-year-old "Mia Love Disnard" whom he had with his baby mother. "Mikey Madison" played the role of "River", a single mother in Los Angeles who was also the lead star of the movie. She did a wonderful job and there were a couple of crying and emotional scenes that she knocked out of the park. "Mia Love Disnard" played the role of the 5-year-old daughter and was lovely to watch in this film.

Madison is gonna goe places for her award but before that she made this little crime drama, fair I haven't seen her before the Oscar's one the recognition that deserves, making low budget films is the beginning of actor or actress career, here review: Look the plot is so noticeable n predictable, for everything else is just stander crime thriller, following same suspense shots a la Cellular or Phonebooth.

Film delivers on the greediness n suspense that makes this movie enjoyable.

Sure don't bring new just mother caring for her little while getting roll up in stings.

There's nothing to say in the acting, all came out from Michael Mann flick.

Give up to the camera chase that work perfectly fine.

So conclude it didn't bring recognition to Madison, but the thrills of story entertains.

Is hardly wanna be Alpha Dogs knockoff but is something else short n not stop.

Emmanuelle Pickett directorial debut is impressive.

All Souls deliver beautiful cinematography, stellar performances from the likes of Mikey Madison, G-Eazy and Mia Love Disnard along with a score that adds an extra layer of drama and suspense. While All Souls takes us on a dangerous undercover operation in the street of a composite of Los Angeles, it also taps into the heart, resilience and desperation of a mother who is willing to do anything to protect her daughter. While there are moments that are predictable in the ploy the film dives heavy into character work that carries the film along with its production team.

Really looking forward to Emmanuelle Pickett next project along with the cast involved future in cinema.
