So Incredibly Awful It's Worth Watching

Quest of the Perfect Woman: The Vampire of Marrakesh (1933)

* (out of 4)

Incredibly awful film is something that I'd actually highly recommend to those who love bad movies. Tom Terriss and another man go looking for the perfect woman and land in India where they start their search. The only problem is that the women there are wearing veils so it's hard to tell if what they're chasing is really pretty or not. Yeah, that's pretty much the "story" to this film, which was the first to be released by Hammer. It seems historians debate whether or not this is actually a Hammer picture but their name is on the opening and closing credits so that's enough for me.

At just 10-minutes there's really not a single good thing to be found here and the type of humor this thing tries to get laughs out of will probably be more offensive than anything else. There are several jokes aimed at the Indian women covering themselves and I'm sure this won't sit too well today. I'm all for offensive humor but the problem is that none of it here is funny. Even worse are the performances, which are just downright awful all around. More problems come from the lack of any real story and for the life of me I just can't figure out what the point of this thing was. Fans of Hammer or bad films might want to check it out as a curio but everyone else should just skip this thing.
