If you're looking for a series that has a realistic take on invasion of privacy and how that impacts someone and everybody around them then look no further than Netflix's, "Intimacy".
With this kind of premise for a show the acting performances for it have to be realistic and compassionate and all of the actors did that and much more. Every single actor in this series brought everything to their roles and helped captivate the audience for this wild ride. Everybody in this show felt like real human beings and how people would react in this kind of situation. The real standouts for this show though were Verónica Echegui, Itziar Ituño, Patricia López Arnaiz, and Ana Wagener, who plays Alicia. All four of these actresses bring such raw emotions to their roles that it makes it easy for the audience to understand what they're going through and feel sympathy for them.
Another element of this series that was captivating was the story. This series follows four different main storylines and some other minor ones and it's able to connect each really well and keep them all captivating. The most captivating thing for me was the fact they showed both ways someone would go about this situation. Whenever a show has lots of storylines it's hard to balance all of them and make sure all of them get the same amount of time and moves at the right speed and for the most part, they hit a home run. But, after some reassessing of the series, I realized that not only one storyline was kind of rushed but some of the smaller ones as well. I feel like the writers figured they were only going to get one season for this series so they wanted to wrap everything up nicely and in doing so rushed some story stuff.
This takes me over to the pacing for the series where once again the pacing is a home run except for a few things. I will say this for 2.5/4 storylines the pacing moves at the right speed with everything making sense but, for the other 1.5, it was working well until the final 2 episodes. I really noticed the pacing issues specifically for the final episode as it felt rushed especially surrounding some character decisions. There are some character decisions made that just made no sense given certain information we see throughout the series.
One random aspect of the series that I caught myself enjoying was the cinematography for this series. There were so many gorgeous shots in this series that just took my breath away. There were some creative shots used in this series that helps the audience understand these characters and their relationships. To keep it spoiler-free an example of this is there are two characters in the frame and there's a wall separating them. I also found the camerawork interesting as at times it felt like a camera or a person watching these people live their normal lives which keeps in theme with the series.
In the end, Intimacy is an interesting series that despite some pacing and story issues is still worth a watch especially because of the subject matter.
