Peepli Live was India's official entry for the 83rd Academy Awards Best Foreign Film category,however it did not get nominated.

Nawazuddin met Aamir Khan on the sets of the film and told him that they had worked together before. Aamir could not remember when and in what film. Nawazuddin reminded him of that 1 scene in Sarfariosh. Aamir later remembered and was amazed hoe well Nawazuddin's career had progressed. Aamir then called the unit together and told them this little peice of trivia news he just learnt.

The film was originally titled "The Falling".

Gulshan Devaiah also auditioned for Rakesh Kumar.

The film had a theatrical release in Surrey British Columbia Canada.
