In the 1950s, Paul Reubens develops his art in CalArts and The Groundlings, bringing Pee-wee Herman to life. After the worldwide success of his film in 1985, he becomes so immersed in the character that fame becomes a double-edged sword.
Reubens rises to fame with Emmy-winning Pee-wee's Playhouse, faces media backlash after 1991 arrest, later returns through cameos and Broadway, restoring his legacy before his death.
