If you religiously grew up watching the Brothers Garcia on Nickelodeon back in 2000, then you must watch the Garcias on HBO Max. All the original Garcia cast is back, two decades since we've last seen them when the Brothers Garcia ended in 2004. Now along with new faces who play their spouses and children. And I gotta say they all are perfect cast! I don't want to give too much but until we see all on the next episodes soon I like to say this revival is one of the shows from very early 2000s we never knew we needed to come back but glad it did and we get to see what the Garcias are up to in their new journey. Can't wait for the next episodes coming up!
The brothers Garcia was such a key in my childhood. I used to own one of those little VideoNow player things and watched the dvds religiously! Seeing all the characters I grew up with as adults with their own kids really hit home. Knowing Larry got to be an astronaut like he wanted hit me in the feels! Max is definitely the star of it all, he's amazing. I can't wait to see more! 1000/10 recommend!
Many of the elements of the show, even some of the more corny and stereotypical ones work well on the surface.
But I just can't put my finger on why the parts don't quite make up the whole.
Sometimes a show just doesn't have that magic spark that lifts it from good to great, even though what that magic is can't quite be accurately pinpointed.

This show is scrubbed clean of any real latinx experience. They are shells of characters. It feels like a Disney-fied version of what used to have more value. Sad.
Real disappointed i use to love this show as a child. And as a real Mexican American. This feels very unreal and washed. Nothing authentic to the latin culture very forced. Even showed my kids and they felt like it was too cheesy. Hope it gets a reality check before its too late.
