Billy the Kid is obviously a series based on the infamous outlaw, William H. Bonney a.k.a. Billy the Kid. This series tries to give you a fresh take on Billy's story, it shows him as more of the good guy than the gunslinging outlaw we all know him as. They actually make Billy into a sympathetic figure. Listen, Emilio Estevez from Young Guns will always be my favorite Billy the Kid but Tom Blyth does a really good job here as Billy. Daniel Weber also does a great job as Jesse Evans. The way they show their close friendship and how they ended up on different sides is worth watching. The first season is mostly an origin story of how William H. Bonney became the outlaw Billy the kid. The second season is so full of action and story it's hard to stop watching.
Had I not seen the advertisement on television for this series I would not have watched it, but I am on season one episode eight and it's great. It is hard to do set design for an old western let alone two seasons, with multiple episodes shot at different locations to take place in New Mexico, Kansas, Mexico, etc. And they have done a very good job, the acting is really good, the storyline is good even if you think you know the William Bonnie story, there's a slant to this, that I won't divulge, but it has peaked my interest enough for me to now be looking for the correct book to read with the supposed most accurate details.
An entertaining and well-made adaptation of the life and times of Billy the Kid. The style is ruggedly realistic, wonderfully depicting the harsh unfairness of life. The beauty of the landscape is in stark contrast to the selfish exploitation by the 'haves' of the 'have-nots'.
Outstanding performances from Eileen O'Higgins, Jonah Collier and Tom Blyth, collectively portraying the close bond of a mother-son relationship.
The opening episode sets the scene brilliantly, despite a sluggish step. Subsequently the pace picks up, delivering a fascinating action-packed story with some fabulous dialogue and gorgeous cinematography. Highly recommended viewing.

I just finished Season 2 of Billy the Kid and was entertained throughout the entire series so far. This series takes a few episodes to really get going but once it did I binged right through it. So if you didn't enjoy the first couple episodes just stay with...it's worth it. I'm glad MGM+ renewed this because there is so much to Billy the Kid that one season wasn't enough. They could even go several more seasons with all the material on him that's out there. The actor who plays Billy is Tom Blyth and he gives one of the best Billy the Kid performances I've ever seen. Blyth also just starred in The Hunger Games prequel and has a very bright future in Hollywood. I have to admit that I'm a big fan of westerns so I'd probably enjoy this no matter what but it really is a solid show that I think most people will enjoy.
The first 3 eps kept my attention, not sure how authentic it is but I like it so far. The lead actor is doing a good job, let's see where it goes! I disagree with all the negativity on here.
