Synopsis

  • Three totalitarian powers share the planet, in a perennial state of world conflict. Terror reigns supreme, culture is repressed by any means necessary and the Thought Police censors and suppresses any form of thought that differs from the dogmas of Big Brother, in a world now dominated by hatred, ignorance and wars. Time no longer exists, logic no longer exists. Control, domination and obedience; this is what the new society has to accept now. Relentless wars and misery are the only way to hold sleeping people off. It will therefore be up to Ethan Smith to try to counter the ideology of the New Party and start a Revolution that puts the regime in check. Ethan must try to keep people's minds and reason awake. Culture is therefore what matters now: an under-the-table sharing of books, music, films and texts begins which the Thought Police will try to contrast by burning everything possible. It will be an ideological battle, but also a physical one, to take back their history. On his way, Ethan will meet Seth, who also professes to be a follower and admirer of his deeds. But soon Ethan realizes that this time is different: Seth is just another Fear's slave, a Big Brother's drudge ready to sacrifice his ideals and innocents' life, in order to follow the dictates of the Party. Seth will lead Ethan straight into the arms of the Thought Police, who is looking for him, toward a final showdown like no other.

Set in the dystopian Orwellian universe of "1984", "Nineteen Eighty-Fear" wants to present itself as a revisited sequel to George Orwell's literary masterpiece, recalling numerous details of the source material in order to give a new modern narrative key to this story.
