FOMO

I feel like it misses a character like Barney that carries the show. Also, there are way to many characters for the main cast. But it has potential and I'll keep watching to see where it goes.

Following a seriously rushed pilot to introduce the characters in the span of 25 minutes as a necessary crutch to launch the characters into their shenanigans with some context, this episode shows the potential the show has while naturally introducing the "2022-ness" to the formula and giving the characters some comic identity. If they stay true to the format of the original (non-linear storytelling, flashbacks, a strong couple like Lily and Marshall and a dominant boisterous character like Barney) I will keep watching, and hoping Pamela Fryman directs more episodes.

To start, I'm one of the biggest HIMYM fans there is, I've watched the series countless times. When I heard they're making this show, I was very worried. But the first two episodes have impressed me, the formula is there, there is a chemistry in the cast that I can feel (Except the adopted sister? Feels like she was added late in the writing and kind of thrown in without a life raft). With all of the characters in the show, there's something to go off of at least, a solid chemistry between the cast, the HIMYM formula, relationships within the group. I'm hopeful, not getting my hopes high at all, but I do think that this could be good.

I think this episode is definitely better than first by a mile, but it's still got 4 or 5 miles to reach HIMYM.

I'm beginning to care a tiny bit about the characters but not nearly as fast as HIMYM. I think the story is still a lil all over (not nearly as jarring as the pilot), but what's important is the humor can hit sometimes like it's predecessor and the music selection is good like HIMYM as well.

We will see.

The pilot episode of a show has to do an awful lot, and what with this being a spin-off/sequel series it had to do a little bit more. It didn't all work, it was a bit clunky, but the promise/potential was there.

This second outing builds on the potential, but doesn't solve all the problems that were there for all to see in the first.

There's still too many characters, it still feels like Sophie is just the straight character to all the funnier ones around her, and the characters do still feel like standard sitcom tropes we've seen before elsewhere and done better.

However, I repeat that there is potential here, and when the show slows down and relaxes those are clear to see.
