I am a huge HIMYM fan so I thought I'd give this show a watch (with very low expectations). So far, none of the episodes have really interested me and the jokes have consistently fell flat. This episode was the first episode that I actually enjoyed thoroughly. The chemistry felt different in this one (in a good way) and I hope it continues in the that direction. I'm glad this show got renewed for second season and I hope this episode is an indicator for better episodes in the future.
My one gripe with the show still is the sister character. I feel bad for saying this but she's not funny and I feel like she doesn't have chemistry with anyone else. I hope they get rid of her and replace her with Josh Peck's character. I don't think Sophie and Drew will wind up together (since it's the first season) but I would love to see them pull off a Ted/Robin thing where they remain in the same group as friends.

To me, this is the best episode so far and here's why:
1- the mom scenes were just a few seconds.
2- they gave us backstories of the characters and thats good.
3- not full with bad jokes and in someway it gave the characters some depth.
4- the most important is this, i guess they finally give us the first hint that sophie and jesse gonna end up together.

This feels like the show has turned a corner. The characters felt more real and less forced. The story felt organic and relatable. The scene in the hallway was the best part. 2 friends being open and raw about their failures, but both supportive of each other. This was the first episode it felt like the characters were trying to be themselves and not a rehash of the originals HIMYM cast. I hope this trend continues.
Thank you directors for reducing the laugh track. The last episodes were totally unbearable but here we know the story is going to get better. Go Spohie.

I was running out of hope! Somehow, they knocked it out of the park. Might be exagerating a bit - it wasn't perfect ... but it was a really good, solid episode. The episode was well constructed, as opposed to the jumbled it usually is, and the dialogue was much better. A few tired jokes here and there, but the cast is finally starting to sell them. Performer of the week goes to Hilary! I've been pretty underwhelmed by her so far, but she really shined this week. Likeable as ever and she landed the punchlines this time.
