Fernanda Abreu: Kátia Flávia, a Godiva do Irajá

This cover song from the classic song of Fausto Fawcett got a better music video than his previous effort, also directed by Sandra Kogut. Fernanda Abreu was a musical partner of Fawcett back in 1987 and in the late 1990's she presented this rendition of his most famous song and delivered a clip that slightly follows the storyline brought by the hilarious lyrics of that song.

"Kátia Flávia, a Godiva do Irajá" tells the story of a beautiful blonde woman famous in the criminal circles who challenges the police by sending warning messages to them to chase her. Fernanda plays the title character and the video presents her alongside criminal types who are being chased by the cops, and it all seems filmed on a film set stage where you can notice the car isn't moving, it's just the background images moving as she performs the song.

I'm a huge fan of the original song thanks to its rhythm, the bass lines and Fausto's voice which carries a unique sound that some may find it weird but it's fun to hear. However, considering how the lines were written, mostly on a female's point of view it really fits with Fernanda's performance, way more appealing to her sexy appeal and that Rio accent which also fits the character's background. It works, but the musical and harmony, all 1990's, is slightly affected. But compared to the man's dated and weird music video this one is way better because it tells the music story and Fernanda's blonde wig is amazing - the eternal brunette caused some sensation at the time with her appearance change.

It's a great video and it got two nominations for the Brazilian version of VMA's. It didn't chart as Fawcett's version but it caused some impression back then. 9/10.
