Forgive me for the comparison, but the first four episodes reminded me of Monty Python Flying Circus. The last two ones are quite weaker, unfortunately.

I reckon that this show is not for everyone and it is easy to miss the point about the whole absurdity of it.

Took me three tries over a two weeks to get through the first episode.

I love absurdist comedy.

I love sketch comedy.

I love Aussie comedy!

This combines all three, but I don't love it.

Loved the bent and impossible humour - just what any iso ADHD mind needs or any geek/nerd for that matter. Can't wait to see more!

Australia has produced some excellent comedy television (The Comedy Company, Fast Forward, Big Girl's Blouse), but I couldn't even get all the way through the first episode of this show.. Frankly the whole thing seemed to have been improvised without bothering to even be amusing, let alone funny. Give her the big swerve maaate! Just awful.

Everyone hating on this show I think is missing the point. Not only is it hilarious but it's also somewhat terrifying in the way Black Mirror was.

Not horror or gory.....it's terror for the MIND!!!

Someone had good ideas for skits, and then forgot to write the punchlines and gags. Missed me with its style of comedy completely.

I can't believe that this isnt rated higher, i know I'm biased because i love the work that Nick boshier creates but this just screams 'soulmates' to me which i also recommend people check out.

I cant wait to see more of the moth effect keep up the awesome work!

One skit was slightly funny re marketing, but the rest were overreaching and cringe.

I think we need sketch show like this. There are almost no holy cows for them. It's amazing that authors come from Australia, where civil liberties are being destroyed daily. Sometimes their jokes make me laugh, sometimes they make me angry, but that is perfect for me. I don't need echo chamber comedians.

Can't put a finger on why it doesn't work... I chuckled here and there... and I know the ideas would've sounded good in a writer's room, and the issues they're addressing are important and not addressed anywhere else on TV. For some reason, having a whole stable of thespians in it too doesn't quite hit the right sketch comedy note (though Zoe Terakes was just the right tone of underplayed deadpan in the first ep). Hope it picks up.

Some of the best comedy to come out of Australia in a long time.

My mum use to say if you can't say something good, don't say anything. I gave this show 1 point for everytime I laughed, and 1 point for trying.

Surprised that the rating for this show is low. It makes fun of modern topics in a fresh and different way.

What a waste of time! It's beyond me to know that reviews have come in for this show that include positive comments. It annoys me that rubbish like this gets produced and people pay actual money to do it! Just like "singers" who make massive amounts of coin and they couldn't hold a note to save their life!

Give me the chance to decide what's good and what needs to be changed/edited and maybe some decent entertainment will come out way once more!

When you think of great Aussie sketch shows, The Hoages show, The D-Generation, The Comedy Company, The Late Show, Fast Foward, Full Frontal heck even The Late Shift come to mind.

This show here is not ever going to be among those classics. This show is producing 0% laughs and just eye rolling attempts at humor. Who is giving this rubbish the green light to be filmed?

This show makes Greeks On The Roof look like a 10/10 comedy classic. I keep suffering through another episode hoping it will get better because lockdown is torturing us to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find something to entertain us, but I wish I could give this show a rating of 0 now and tell Netflix to never show it's link on my menu ever again or recommend anything any of these people do in future, its that bad. Just avoid this program at all costs, you'll thank yourself for it.

Also, ignore the generically written reviews here giving the show top ratings. It's the cast and fake reviews. I guess they think they can manipulate the IMDB rating and try to present it as an excuse as to why on Netflix it got so many thumbs down when Netflix say "give us 1 reason we should give you a second season?"... The cast don't deserve the chance of the money. So let them try and manipulate the ratings here and don't be stooged by them.

This is a great sketch show. Obviously, with any sketch show it is hit and miss but it was more hit than miss for me. I loved the time traveller and lost at sea Matrix sketches.

As much as I love absurdist humour, I'm not sure that's how I'd label The Moth Effect, despite the fact that it's clearly been influenced by Monty Python's Flying Circus (as have all decent sketch comedies). Moth Effect contains more tongue in cheek social commentary than the typical Aussie sketch show. Each segment is like an onion; there are multiple layers to enjoy. I'm disappointed that it only aired for a single season but it stands as testament that Australian artists are able to create intelligent, high quality shows that are more than capable of rivalling anything on the world stage. If I could bring back one Aussie show, this would be it.

I still can't get over how bad this show is. It's anti comedy. Absolutely appalling. It makes me sad to think of all the talented people out there who would have done so much given this opportunity. The reviews on here give this either 1 or 10 stars. Nothing really in between. Very suspicious.

This is so what the worlds needs right now. I haven't seen a sketch comedy show like this. I can't wait to see more.

If you don't think this is funny and on point you probably take yourself far to seriously. It's silly, topical, and points out the absurd. What more do you want?

The trailer for this mini series was constructed well enough to earn a spot on my waitlist. First episode did not disappoint and now I'm eager to watch the season grow each week. Very glad to see such a well crafted Australian sketch show take quirky jabs at our unique modern-day no-fly-zones.

It's intelligent and silly. Great production with wicked comedic timing. They take an idea and tease it out more than Gene Simmons' hair. (In a good way)

A serious chortle. Feels good.

I found the comedy style hilarious and unique. Really love the work put in by the team and hope to see a second season. We all need more laughs these days.

This show has really spread it's wings after emerging from the chrysalis that was 2020.
