I hate to think what would've happened if they'd kept the theme of a bookshop instead of changing to a coffee shop.
I think the caffeine was the only thing to keep even the actors from falling asleep!
It's a good thing they removed the dog humping his leg, like at the end of you've got mail!
Certainly no issues with sleeping, so no fear of being a prequel to you've got mail...
I always thought the extravagant excesses shown in the 1998 version were unnecessary with the boats, but maybe this showed why it was necessary.
Perhaps they should've just doubled at the start! Would've saved everyone some time.

The reviewer who said "boring" is absolutely correct. The reviewers who said this movie is a copy of "You've Got Mail" are also correct. The script - being dopey, prosaic, and soooo slow - didn't give the actors much to work with, but they could have at least picked up their lines! They really didn't need those loonnnggg pauses, bashful glances, etc., etc. To "emote" their way through this rather silly movie. The most refreshing moments were actually when the "one or two lines" actors came into the shop near the end of the movie and expressed how much they loved the place. Their acting was MUCH more authentic and engaging than the lead(s), I'm sorry to say!
Lena (Elise Gatien) is a single gal in the city and a local cafe owner with her best friend Ava Harding. Ava falls for Walker on an online dating app. Jonah (Clayton James) is opening a rival big chain cafe. He helps his friend Walker in his online dating texts. Jonah and Lena end up communicating in place of their best friends without realizing that he's her coffee competition.
Ava and Walker need to be more shy. That's a better reason for the lead characters to take over their friends' dating app. The concept is a variation on You've Got Mail. Elise Gatien is incredibly cute. Clayton James has the nice guy looks. It has all the story elements of Mail with the addition of a real world love-hate relationship. Of course, it doesn't have Tom Hanks or Meg Ryan. It's a lesser copy and that's not a sin. It is what it is, a lesser copy.

WOW!! Creatively written storyline!! Elise, Clayton, Lucas and Stephanie were fantastic in bringing this clever story to life! I loved the way the story developed as the back and forth between the business, romance, friendships etc is perfect in this movie as it kept me interested throughout the whole hour and a half. Sincerity, chemistry, passion and care for others permeated the story also. This is a great rom com for tweens and teens in addition to rom com lovers who want a love filled transforming story without hate, sinsister revenge and mean spirited behavior. Thank you to all who made this movie possible! I relaxed and enjoyed! I think others will too!
