Most characters are based on historical figures. Hanzou: Hattori Hanzo; Dragon: Bruce Lee; Janne: Joan of Arc; J. Carn: Genghis Khan; Muscle Power: Hulk Hogan; Rasputin: Grigori Rasputin; Brocken is based on Nazi World War II soldiers.
Geegus, the boss, can shape shift into any character.
Hanzou and Fuuma are rival ninjas that appear to have been inspired by Ryu and Ken from the 'Street Fighter' series. Their moves are similar in style and execution as well as their appearances.
