Sam Hazeldine Replaces Joseph Mawle as Adar
Initially played by Joseph Mawle, Adar will be played by Sam Hazeldine in The Rings of Power season 2, instead.
Although Mawle had not explained his departure from the show, he did write, "Best to cast and crew for S2, I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines X."
Sam Hazeldine is best known for playing recurring roles in Peaky Blinders as George Sewell, Rain Dogs as Paul, Slow Horses as Moe, and most recently, in Masters of the Air as Lt. Col. Albert 'Bub' Clark.

ITV Studios has secured sales and pre-sales deals for more than 1,000 hours of content across its catalog of scripted and non-scripted content, ahead of the Asia TV Forum and Market.
“Nolly,” the three-part drama from BAFTA-winning writer Russell T. Davies and produced by Nicola Shindler’s Quay Street Productions, has been acquired by Pumpkin Film in China, Now TV in Hong Kong and Tvnz in New Zealand. Tvnz has has also licensed relationship drama “You & Me,” teen drama “Tell Me Everything,” “The Walk-In,” “The Dry,” “Tom Jones,” season two of “The Tower” and season 4 of “The Bay.”
In Japan, Tfc/Star Channel has licensed World Productions’ International Emmy award-winning “Vigil.” Cineplex in Thailand for TrueVisions has also acquired “Vigil,” along with season 3 of Tall Story Pictures’ “The Bay” and celebrated comedy series “Schitt’s Creek.”
In India, four-part drama “Litvinenko,” starring David Tennant, has been acquired by Viacom18, with Tvod rights going to BookMyShow Stream.

One of two major fantasy television hits this year came in the form of a Lord of the Rings show. Amazon’s The Rings of Power boasted huge numbers when the big-budget series premiered. It was a big investment for the streaming company and the Tolkien brand, Middle-Earth Productions, looks to expand to many areas of media for the franchise.
Season 2 was inevitable for the show, and Amazon Studios has just announced the cast for the next year of the series:

Withnail & I star Richard E. Grant has joined Disney+’s live-action drama Nautilus, with Muki Zubis (This is Going to Hurt) Benedict Hardie (The Luminaries), Jacob Collins Levy (Young Wallander) and Luke Arnold (Black Sails) also signing up to the cast. The show, from Moonriver TV and Seven Stories, is currently shooting at Village Roadshow Studios in Queensland, Australia. The show tells Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea from the point of view of Indian prince Captain Nemo (Shazad Latif) for the first time. Grant will guest star as the leader of Karajaan, a port town Nemo and his crew encounter on their adventures.

Privately-held European cinema operator Vue International has hired Claire Arksey as Chief Operating Officer. She joins from clothing store Urban Outfitters, where she was responsible for 269 standalone stores across 14 countries.

U.K. broadcaster ITV’s quarterly external revenues have soared 18 to £834 million (1.03 billion), up from £709 million (872 million) in 2021.
In a trading update for the three months to March 31, 2022, the broadcaster also revealed that total ITV Studios revenue was up 23 at £458 million (2021: £373 million); media and entertainment revenue was up 13 at £545 million (2021: £483 million); with total advertising revenue up 16; and digital revenues up by 24.
For ITV Studios, the international production and distribution arm of ITV, revenues from streaming platforms continued to grow with development deals or commissions with most of the major platforms including “Inganno” and “One Piece” for Netflix, “Love Island USA” for Peacock and a Benjamin Franklin drama for AppleTV+. BritBox North America has struck a deal for three Agatha Christie adaptations and is to double its creative and investment output.
Head Emily Powers unveiled the news at this morning’s TCAs, at which point she revealed BritBox is co-producer on ITV’s The Confessions of Frannie Langton and has acquired the same network’s The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe and BBC One’s Martin Freeman-starring The Responder, both of which will be badged BritBox Originals. The BBC Studios/ITV streamer has also ordered a second season of Father Brown spin-off Sister Boniface Mysteries.

Josephine Baker, the trailblazing American-born entertainer and civil rights activist, is the first Black woman to be laid to rest at France’s Pantheon.
The Parisian monument is dedicated to iconic figures that have left a decisive imprint on French history, including the writers Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo and Emile Zola, resistance hero Jean Moulin and politician Simone Weil. Baker is only one of the six women to have received this rare honor, along with Weil, scientist Marie Curie, chemist Marcellin Berthelot and resistance figures Germaine Tillion and Geneviève de Gaulle-Athonioz. Baker’s remains will stay in Monaco, where she was buried, but her presence at the Pantheon is commemorated with a plaque on a cenotaph.
