      There were ten days of location shooting in Iceland, where daylight lasted virtually 24 hours. Joseph Kosinski wanted to make a film that was very much based in daylight, considering that a lot of classic sci-fi movies like Alien (1979) and Blade Runner (1982) were shot in near darkness.

      During the opening montage showing the aftermath of the war, the Washington Monument is tilted. The monument was constructed with over 36,000 marble blocks held together only with gravity and friction. There is no metal support structure, and no mortar was used. If the monument were to be tilted, it would fall apart.

    Should be rated much higher

    This is a truly outstanding sci-fi movie with a great plot, just the right amount of sci-fi environment and great characters. It's a very small but outstanding cast and everyone does their job just right.

    The highlight of the movie is where Olga K steals the show in the scene that is the turning point of the story. If anyone doubts that she can act, they should watch this one again.

    If you enjoy a movie with an actual story and not just an expensive CGI affair, this is worth your time.

    I rarely watch a movie more than once but this one has captured my attention a few times. I'm very surprised it does not rate higher. 9/10.
