Yazmin has got to be one of the worst female protagonists that I have ever seen. She made so many dumb decisions that I can't even name them all. All I know is that any woman with her mentality is ridiculously pathetic. I know that women like her exist in real life, but it seemed like the movie was trying to convince us that she's this strong intelligent woman while all of her actions said the opposite. Now, onto the screenwriting and directing. It was extremely amateur. The way that some scenes would jump from one plot point to the next was not cohesive at all and confusing. One minute Yazmin is working a regular job and then the next minute she's opening a hookah bar that was never mentioned before. Also, some of the lines did not sound natural and just seemed like they would not be spoken by a real human being. The best character was Yazmin's best friend and she unfortunately didn't receive a lot of screentime. It's also worth mentioning that the runtime was way too long for the predictable story. It could have easily been an hour long.
To be honest, I'm baffled that there's any positive reviews at all. This movie was mid in a bad way. Oh and here's a tip to the director: Second takes are not a bad thing. If the line delivery doesn't sound right, you can shoot the scene again.

Unrealistic and Dumb story. No woman in a marriage is going to do this type of stuff. Why did she not seek out therapy, counseling or medical help for her husband??? DUMB!!!
Horrible acting. - and the people are so stereo-typical "black" people, saying "Dog" and "Yo" and "You know what I'm sayin'" and "For Real" like every 30 seconds in the movie.
Avoid this at all costs. WASTE OF TIME.
GARBAGE.

The only person who got played is who watched this. I wished I didn't come across the movie, the plot is weak, you already knew where this is going.. you'd predict this quicker than you'd answer a 1+1 math plus acting is below average, given that the budget is 28k, you get what you paid for. They tried to make up for their abysmal attempt of thriller with a hot lady. Other than that, a perfect cure for insomnia.
He Played Me was fun and enjoyable! I think it being based on a true story helped to provide a natural feel to some of the characters. They were interesting people who I wanted to know more about.
There were def parts of the story that were confusing and stuff that I felt was missing and a few unintentionally funny moments. But overall there was drama and intrigue and I would 100% recommend watching it if you're into the genre.

A bored woman on the verge of divorcing her deadbeat husband begins an affair with a flashy man with dark past named Jai. When she discovers who he really is, she says, "Be careful what you wish for," and wishes she could have stuck with her old life. Based on a true story, she wrote a book about her experience.
