South African journalist Jacques Pauw was covering the film's production for British television, when he was wrangled into playing the white priest in a few minutes since there were no Caucasian actors in the area that could be called in. Despite having no prior acting experience, Pauw agreed to do what he was lead to believe was a small scene. It turned into a full two day acting assignment. Paux described the experience in his book "Dances with Devils: A Journalist's Search for Truth" (Struik, 2006).
