After finding all star coins from worlds 1-9, all toad houses will not pop after completing, allowing you to play them indefinitely.
Marks the return of the Koopalings from Super Mario Bros. 3 (1988). While they were then referred to as "Koopa Kids" and meant to be Bowser/Koopa's children, this game retcons them to "Bowser's Minions". Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto stated in 2012: "Our current story is that the seven Koopalings are not Bowser's children. Bowser's only child is Bowser Jr. [from Super Mario Sunshine (2002)], and we do not know who the mother is."
