            Saving The Best For Last

Rick and Morty's fifth season started off surprisingly well, then it sagged with Rickdependence Spray, but picked itself right back up with Rickternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mort (if I'm writing the title correctly). Rickmurai Jack is this season's strongest episode by a wide margin, and that's strong praise for this fan right here.

This episode had character-development galore, sci-fi-world-building that shames other shows of similar ambition, and a cliffhanger ending that was surprisingly self-contained in the episode's open-ended multiverse context.

This is animated television that people will revere for decades to come; be it the plot twists, the writing and craziness of the animation, Rick and Morty saved its best episode for last THIS season.

Definitely an improvement over some of this season's notable disappointments, it almost plays as an 'apology' for those let down by the mid-season episodes.

Rickmurai Jack: another platinum episode for this batsh!t-crazy series.

Should've been saved for a possible movie!

The plot, character arcs, humour, visuals, everything would've fit right in a potential Rick and Morty movie! I was left genuinely speechless afterwards by how great it was. Although this season had some highs and lows, this season went out with not just a bang, but a nuclear explosion. Wish I could give 20 stars if I would.

Also can't wait for Season 6 in like 3 years, time.

THIS EPISODE MADE ME QUESTION REALITY

I just .. woah. I havent watched an episode of TV that actually made me question a lot of what iv been watching. Season 5 has been slightly below par for R and M. But this episode made it all worth it. Watch it, experience it, enjoy the lore being slapped in your face. Because this episode changes everything about the show you watch and love.

Best episode of the series (plot wise)

The reveal of the mystery that the whole fanbase has been dying to know was revealed perfectly. Loved the music as well, especially the "Blade Runner" esque music in the flashback. It still struggles with the humor like almost all of the episodes in season 5, but this episode being plot based helps with that. Could honestly have been adapted into a movie.

            Epic season ending

I think we were misguided by some lame episodes into thinking this was a weak season but this was a real kick in the balls. What a way to destroy stupid fan theories and to give us the best episode in the entire series.

Rick eating ramen noodles in his killing spree montage is a reference to Rick Deckard eating in a Japanese noodle bar in Blade Runner (1982).
            • Goofs
During the Rick's Backstory montage, the Smith house can be seen with the usual crack in the driveway and lawn from Rick Potion #9 (2014), right before Rick crashes his car into the garage. But this is a memory, essentially a flashback, showing Rick joining the family in the first place before the Pilot (as indicated by Beth crying upon seeing him, since she was seeing him for the first time in years). As in, this is before the events of Rick Potion #9 when that crack was created. There should be no crack yet.

[Mr. Poopybutthole is watching the credits, then turns off the TV]

Mr. Poopybutthole: Oowee! Evil Morty. That was quite a scheme. Makes me wonder if there's an evil me out there. But I guess, sometimes, I look at my life and I may not even need him. 'Cause, well, guess I've made a pretty big mess of things myself. Oowee... Never got my job at the university back. Remember that? Rick made me do karate. It was kinda funny. But I guess things went downhill from there. Started isolating myself from Amy. Used to tell her everything I was feeling. But then I guess I stopped, 'cause I wanted her to love who she thought I was, not who I felt myself becoming. Ever think about how horrified the people we love would be if they found out who we truly are? So we just dig ourselves deeper into our lies every day. Ultimately hurting the only people brave enough to love us. Wish I didn't do that. Wish I was brave enough to love them back. I don't know. Maybe you should try it. We don't have as much time as we think. Oowee...
