Its really fresh to see a more casual friendly competition. Although the artificial time contraint is still present. We sometimes get to see a glimps of them just helping each other out, like cooking tips or just helping to carry something heavy. Personally this really gives the show some fresh air compared to other cooking shows that are heavily competative.
The show does sometimes fall for the usual reality tv tropes. Like sappy backstories. For example, something has a personal connection to someones childhood and that makes this cake "really special to me, and i'm gonna do everything I can to make this perfect for X person". And more stuff like that, wicch I can personally do without.
All in all, its much less serious than other cooking shows and that does give it it's charm. So I would recomend this to someone that is looking for a more lighthearted cooking show. But in the end its still sappy overedited reality tv.
6/10: good but not great.

This is ultimate feel good TV. No sparky nasty competition here. Just genius bakers working together and being kind and supportive to one another. The hostess is incredibly successful and is incredibly kind and supportive to all of the bakers! You will fall in love with each of these guys for different reasons. If this show does not get a second through eighth season then all is lost in humanity!
Fun show but clearly some competitors are not great. Maya Camille is so bad that we actually kept watching to see how cringe her creations would be. The first creation she did was worst than a nailed it show. Fun nonetheless.
A baking competition, that's not really a competition.
The final product of every episode is worth the wait. It's amazing how talented these people are. I cannot imagine how their guests pick the best one since all the options are visually appealing and (I'm assuming) delicious as well.
I also enjoy the fact that there's this "team" element going on where they help each other whenever they can. Although there's a little tension in one episode where they split in to two teams, it's not like other shows where there's excessive crying, insults and drama. They "compete" for bragging rights and a picture on a wall. Even without any monetary or material prize, the four of them deliver unlike other cooking shows where you end up shaking your head after they present their final work.
It's not a perfect show though. Some conversations with their clients (even the clients themselves) are awkward, personal comments can feel forced/scripted, and obvious preparations were made. Who keeps an exact mold of their daughter's upper body just stashed in their house?
It's STILL a fun show though which I hope will get renewed.
Sidenote: Christophe the Frenchman, amazing!

If you read too much into it, you probably will not enjoy it. That it mind, I rather enjoyed watching this show. I loved the chemistry between the bakers, they genuinely look like they get along. And I adored their creations.
