Working for Laughs

While it seems quite simple, many of the best comedy shows have been in a workplace. From "Mary Tyler Moore" to "The Office," from "MASH" to "Parks and Rec," these allow us to view an ensemble, presenting quirky characters. I'd forgotten how funny "WKRP" was or the "Bob Newhart Show" or "Barney Miller." "The Dick Van Dyke Show" was the standard bearer. Incredible television. We didn't even mention Cheers because it fits another category.

I enjoyed how they broke it down into themes instead of a straight history. My one complaint is during the episode on workplace comedy they totally missed Night Court. Personally, I think my court was one of the best workplace comedies of the '80s. Also, I would have liked a few more of the actors from certain sitcoms. But I get it, sometimes it's hard to get people together especially some of the older actors. Overall, I enjoyed all of the episodes and it was very fun revisiting some of my favorite moments from some of those sitcoms. It's not a Ken Burns documentary but it is definitely an enjoyable couple hours.
