Relatively speaking, nowhere in the world is so much of the population in prison as in the US. This mainly concerns people from the 'lower layers' of the population and black Americans. Arnon Grunberg speaks to two ex-con: with Barry Campbell about his time in prison, how his drug addiction and lack of treatment contributed to his return. And with John McKeever who was sentenced to life in prison for robberies and burglaries but was released after 20 years and now teaches dance in a nearby park.
