This is a pale comparison to the British version. Characters essentially replacing the British versions do not match the quality of the original. And characters that are technically new are also very stereotypical. I get that the setting and characters along with a lot of the humour from the British version may not work for an American audience, sounds like the cast from the original understood this as well, but this doesn't bode well for the rest of the series. Hopefully it beds in quickly, stops spoon feeding the audience, reduces the over acting and makes different choices in plot so it's harder to compare against a far superior product.
Though this pilot is retelling bit by bit its English counterpart recycling every single gag and plot point it doesn't come out as funny, charming or interesting. The ghosts in the uk version work as caricatures but they're more nuanced, they're not as grotesque and stereotypical. The set in this American version is also as fake as the characters, the stage lighting it's the same as any 3 camera sit com you have seen. It reads very artificial; the delivery and comedic timing of the actors doesn't help as well. I'm sticking to it hoping it finally stops copying the original Ghosts, but if you are starting this without knowing the Uk version, do yourself a favour and go watch Allison and Mike, meet and all the ghosts of Button House.
I have to say that I enjoyed this pilot and look forward to next weeks show. Fun cast. Good writing. No weak spots were evident. This has the makings of a light fun escape from the daily bad news.
This show has a refreshing, clean story line with a multicultural cast. I love it!!! Love the diversity! It's funny and I can't wait for the next episode. There is so much possibility for interesting stories! I'm hooked!!
Note to the Executives of this show: the reality is Not everyone is interested in reality TV, or shows with people who do not have integrity. I show is good TV. The canceled show Debris was also good TV. Thanks for listening.

This cuts across cultural and historical lines. I can see dozens of story lines and the opportunities for numerous cameos from the more well known members of Hollywood. We're looking forward to seeing where they go with this.

- TriviaSean Whalen plays a ghost who died of cholera and now resides in the basement. This is thematically similar to his role in the film The People Under the Stairs (1991), which also features a group of sickly unfortunates trapped below a mansion.
- GoofsPete (the troop leader ghost) mentions the movie Ghost, which was released in 1990. Later in the series, it's revealed that Pete died in 1985, so he wouldn't have known about the movie, unless in the intervening 30 years of constant occupancy of the house "a living" had watched the film in the house while he was in the room (as any of the ghosts could have) or mentioned it within his hearing.
