The Bastard Men of Root Flats (2009)

Trivia

The Bastard Men of Root Flats

Edit
In the original draft of the script, their was a character named Chang Fu Sao, a Chinese railroad foreman who used martial arts, a whip, and railroad spikes for weapons. He was written out due to time constraints. In the gunfight, Viggy is not seen until he sees Ally "Way" in the woods. In the script, Viggy would've fought Chang Fu Sao.
Most of the blood effects were created with digital blood. However, real blood effects were used as well.
The main strip was filmed in Narrowsburg Lumber in Shohola, Pennsylvania, established in 1851. Shohola has been the location of twelve historical railroad accidents. By far the worst was the Great Shohola Train Wreck of the the United States Civil War on Friday, July 15, 1864. More than 300 soldiers were killed or injured in the accident. Filming took place on the location of the train wreck.
Part of Marco Chierichella's final thesis film to graduate from The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
"The Bastard Men of Root Flats" is the last chapter of a planned three part trilogy, although it was filmed first. The Chierichella brothers state it as "starting with Return of the Jedi, and ending with A New Hope".
