Star Robinson decides she is tired of being abused and decides to use every tool at her disposal to rise up against her abuser and walk away with her dignity and his money. The characters are well-drawn and they are smart. Star Robinson must stay one step ahead, needing to be seductive, cunning and ruthless if she is going to come out alive.
"Pay The Lady" creates a spacious world, where every character, large and small, has plausible motivations. Lauryn Ford carries this movie with a wonderful performance, where you see the character evolve from victim to badass. Dushaun Thompson gives a layered performance that allows his character to rise above a caricature of the evil crime boss.

A refreshing spin on the classic crime boss themed movie, "Pay the Lady" doesn't disappoint. Lauren Floyd as "Star" plays a character that display a wide range of emotions. From innocent, kept, princess to calculating shero; Lauren definitely displays her acting chops.
Dushaun Thompson stole every scene he performed. His performance was reminiscent of how Ashton Kutcher did the same in "That 70's Show." He definitely has to be a staple in this trilogy.
Missira Ross's character, "Pam," also provided some much needed comic relief to such a dramatic situation. Interestingly, she ends up being much more than a supporting character.
For an independent film, production quality was TOP NOTCH. We were treated to some interesting cinematography. I can't wait for the next one!!!

This film was unexpectedly good. You never know what you're going to get with some of these urban thrillers. I mean it's more of noir than straight up thriller. It was sexy, well acted, and Lauryn Ford seems to be a star in the making. The other cast was also excellent with Maurice Whitfield playing the menacing heavy and Dushaun Thompson playing his clever lieutenant. There is also some fun comic relief in the film with Missira Ross, David Jia, and Robert Dobson adding some nice levity to a pretty intense film. If the credits are to be believed there will another one. I'd go on this ride again.
Pay the Lady brings a fresh vibe to the classic crime boss genre, and it's a total win. Lauren Floyd, aka "Star," nails it, showcasing a character with a rollercoaster of emotions - from innocent princess to calculated killer, proving her acting prowess. Maurice Whitfield steals the show, owning every scene he's in. Missira Ross, as "Pam," adds much-needed humor to the intense plot, evolving beyond a supporting role. For an indie flick, the production quality is top-notch, delivering captivating cinematography. For an indie flick, the production quality is top-notch, delivering captivating cinematography. Can't wait for the next one! A must-watch for those craving a unique take on crime dramas.
I would have to say I really really enjoyed this film from start to the very end. The character growth of the lead female was really good. Not to give the film away at all but from being just an object as a female to the title Pay The Lady at the end, it was nice to see the growth. In most movies you can clearly see what is going to happen each step of the way but in this film there was a good amount of unexpected turns. I would recommend this film to anyway that likes a good story, couples, and ladies night for sure. The acting was also really good in this film which is something many independent films are missing. This is worth your time to watch for sure. It will pull you in the more you watch.
