Everybody Still Hates Chris

I had somewhat high hopes for this because they brought back the majority of the original cast but this is so disappointing to watch. Even though it has only been one season, this show has been so disappointing and boring I couldn't just sit back and let it go unnoticed. The writing for this show is really terrible. The basic animation style doesn't help the show either. I can only remember laughing hard at two jokes ever. It doesn't have the same tone as the original show even though it's still the same cast. The writing doesn't give the cast the ability to make things funny. The original show allowed the original cast to be really funny because they are a talented bunch of actors. The only thing to blame is the dull and dry comedy, not the cast. I'm not sure if this will get a second season and most likely it will but the writing has to improve. If it wasn't for the original cast coming back, I wouldn't have tuned in at all.

This is truly a gift. Did anyone think they'd ever get any more Everybody Hates Chris again for the rest of time?

NO.

Then like a very minor miracle, boom, a reboot with almost everyone reprising their roles. And because it's animated, they can do things they never could in the live show, and they do!

It's not that awesome, though relative to what else is out there, maybe it is? Either way, the bump from 7 to 8 was pure just because it's Rock, Crews and Arnold doin it like they never stopped.

Watch this, if you can find it, there seems to be a concerted and sinister effort to kill it. I'm pretty sure I know why, you'll see.

Everybody Hates Chris wasn't perfect but often you just burst out laughing at the antics so I wanted to like this but I couldn't get pass the cursing. When Rochelle used the Lord's name in vain I just turned it off. The previous show was mostly kid friendly with the occasional damn but this was too much for this particular woman.

The animation is bad as well. Julius and Mr. Omar were recognizable and Rochelle was ok but the kids looked nothing like the actors. That and the fact that the kids voices are so different was too distracting for me.

Again, I wanted to like the cartoon but the tone and attitudes just were wrong and didn't have the same vibe as the classic Everybody Hates Chris in my opinion. To each his own as they say but me and my kids won't be watching this.

I find it creative how they made this an animated sequel to the original series while still giving us fresh new plots to follow along with as well. I think the humor is still very funny and despite Tyler James Williams not returning to voice Chris, I think Tim Johnson Jr. Is pretty convincing even with a different vocal tone. Only criticism I think I have is in the way some characters look with this animation style, it's not too distracting but noticable the more you watch the show (Caruso's design especially). If you are a fan of the original show every character reference will be noticeable as well, and if you've never seen the original show I do recommend giving it a shot since it's available on a lot of platforms. I sorta wish this show wasn't stuck on Comedy Central only, outside cable it can be hard to watch.

Update: After 4+ episodes in, it's still surprising me how funny it is, so far Season 1 is great!

What a great idea to continue a show in an animation way! That is so creative! I believe it is because the actor who played Chris doesn't like much the show anymore, I think it is because of Brazilian fans, that are fascinated with the show and he didn't understood it well, as the other actors are real big celebrities in Brazil he decided to refuse it (that's why he is really hated in Brazil haha) anyways Everybody Hates Chris was one of my favorite shows in my childhood, I grew up watching it on TV and it is so good to have new things about this family. If you didn't watch the live action sitcom please watch it, it is iconic and legendary! Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold are the soul of the show! And the support characters are so funny and even crazier! Loved it.
