This short script is actually part of a feature length script.
All the film was shot on real locations (family houses, schools, etc).
The scene with the drug deal was on the feature length version of the script and not on the short version. But the location where the scene takes place was found a couple of days before production, and the director added the scene to the short script.
Some of the actors in the movie are not real actors, they live around the neighborhood where the film was shot. There was supposed to be another character in the film with one of those actors, and some scenes were actually shot with him, but because he went to jail during production, the director had to take down his character.
The director has a cameo in the scene where Emilio goes to rival gang house. He can be seen snoring coke from a table where a naked girl lies. The bill he used to snore coke was actually a $100 bill from the production.
