Lady Stanbury accuses her long-time Governess, Katherine, of having an affair with her husband. Katherine is taken aback by the accusations and pleads her case. But Lady Stanbury feels betrayed and, with sorrow and pain, dismisses Katherine, leaving her alone with nowhere to go.
