    Sitting on a Fortune

I suppose there's two schools of thought on this:

Is Gary Lineker being greedy by chasing another salary on top of the huge amount he is paid by Auntie Beeb?

Or is he trying to test himself as a presenter in a new career direction?

Either way he's unfortunately, like many before him, come unstuck with a game show format that doesn't work.

    A poor format.

I did watch a few episodes, but I can't cope with any more of it, the format is just so dull. That end section where contestants are asking for help, it's just so irritating.

You wonder why ITV and The BBC are finding it so tough to introduce any new game shows. Once again, Thank Goodness for The Chase.

You do have to question Gary Lineker's decision to host a series such as this on ITV, he is paid an absolute fortune for Match of The Day, as in tax payer money, and he's happy enough to claim another pay check...not good Gary.

    A turkey, 3/10.

    An okay show

Well, there isn't really all that much I can truly say about Sitting on a Fortune other than this was basically Gary Lineker's attempt at a rival quiz show to what his footballer mate Ian Wright was doing around this time with Moneyball (kind of similar, in a way, to the ratings rivalry between two certain quiz shows hosted by Alexander Armstrong, Richard Osman and Bradley Walsh) and that clearly ITV were rather unsurprisingly capitalising/cashing in on this rivalry just for the sake of making money.

The format is okay and not at all a bad idea on paper, plus Lineker makes for a rather passable host at best.

The only great thing to come out of this show that I can personally think of is just this one brilliant moment in the first episode of Series 2 involving one of the contestants knowing firsthand everything there is to know about the Carry On films (and in particular Kenneth Williams), that just legitimately cracked me up.

In conclusion, Sitting on a Fortune is just okay.

My overall rating for Sitting on a Fortune: 5/10.

    What a Drag?

I decided to watch it for the first (and last) time tonight, or about half an hour of it.

A question is asked then, not only is the contestant allowed to say that they have no idea, the rest of them also do so.

To me, the questions form a very important part of a quiz show, and there's little bang for your buck when you count questions per minute.

I'm now amazed to find the show has been on before and they've made another series. I find that unbelievable but it is broadcast on ITV and they have a track record of midlessly repeating poor programmes; Emmerdale Farm and Coronation Street being two prime examples.

    Just stop.

This game show really goes to show how ungrateful Gary Lineker is, in that the BBC doesn't pay him "enough" so he decided to do a game show on ITV instead. What also sucks is how overpaid he already was by the BBC, with the money we pay for the TV license being a part of his salary. This is not OK.

Besides that, this is just really hard to watch, and as proven by some people, a lot of these questions and answers are inaccurate. The way the whole premise works is also very unfair.
