Richard Rossi and Emma Pearson in Lucy and the Lake Monster (2024)
Trailer for "Lucy & the Lake Monster," the story of an eight-year-old orphan girl named Lucy, (Emma Pearson) on a search for a lake monster named Champ in Lake Champlain, which borders N.Y. & Vermont. She battles bullies & mercenary villains out for a quick fortune, and finds inspiration to overcome obstacles through the love of her grandfather, who she calls "Papa" (Richard Rossi). Lucy & Papa set sail on their rickety rowboat, (named "Gramp's Boat") & their journey to find "Champ" the sea serpent becomes a spiritual allegory that helps audiences overcome challenges in their own lives as Lucy does on-screen. Lucy learns that sometimes the things you can't see are some of the most lasting and important, like love, faith, and magic.

    Great children's movie

This independent film is breath of fresh air to the normal mature or violent films being made today. There's no fighting, shootouts, nudity or foul language. A feel-good movie that is very rarely seen today. It has subtle lessons as well as lessons about bullying. With emphasis about not to give up on your dreams, no matter what pressure you're experiencing. The audience, especially the children in the theater, cheer out loud for "Lucy and PaPa!" Richard Rossi is so multi-talented, and it shows with his collaboration with Kelly Tabor, who co-wrote the book and screenplay., The movie itself. The writing, the singing and creativity is put together beautifully. The outdoor scenes are put together smartly. And a lot of the scenery is breathtaking. There is also a great small town feeling that you get just from the scenery alone. A very special shout out to child actress, Emma Pearson. This beautiful young girl has a career ahead of her. She is so believable and projects her character showing almost no effort. After I found out how it was conceived and finally accomplished, I was even more impressed. The cameos are great, and what a sad coincidence that it became John Amos's last time on film. I recommend it for families and children of all ages.

    Heartfelt Drama

"Lucy & the Lake Monster" is one of the finest films I've seen this year. The core of this heartfelt drama is the relationship between Papa, the grandfather, (Richard Rossi) and his nine year-old granddaughter Lucy (Emma Pearson). They have the type of loving relationship every child needs with a parent or grandparent.

It's a wonderful movie for children, but also for everyone, because Papa and Lucy's adventure searching for the sea creature Champ is compelling to all ages.

The setting of the Lake Champlain region of New York and Vermont was gorgeous, and the scenery was displayed with breathtaking cinematography.

The music is fantastic. After leaving the theater in New York, we found ourselves singing the theme song, "You, Champ, and Me." When the rocking toe-tapper "Lago Time" played in the film, many in the audience were clapping, moving their arms, and some even danced in the aisles to the infectious beat.

This is a simple, but very powerful film and I found the relationship between Lucy and her grandfather especially touching.

    Believe

Great movie , very well done , great life lessons shared by papa ,really enjoyed it , little Lucy was a priceless gem , dreams that are anchored to eternal truth become visions of grace .

I was reminded of the power of prayer , that enables us to see through the eyes of faith .

We all need mentors who reflect the love of God as they see us with his eyes .

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not into your own understanding , in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path .

Looking forward to other Eternal Grace productions that continue to reflect Gods love .

It's not entertainment that we need ,but enterchangement , that which by grace enters to transform and change the heart to reflect Gods heart as He fills us with his merciful love .

Keep following your King Jesus , the way the truth and the life .

    Shalom.

    Great Story to Reflect on

This is a story with some sweet and relatable themes for today. One of my favorite quotes was, the church is supposed to build bridges but often is a barrier. While the corporate "church" culture discourages questions, the grandpa encourages it. Definately one of the most beautiful messages is how important it is to feel like you can be yourself. I feel the heart of this film is definately that its important to have a childlike attitude and tender heart when approaching life, which the grandpa encourages. The grandpa definately makes a difference between childish and childlike, the grandpa has some deep wise messages to convey in the film.

    Wonderful and Refreshing

Lucy and the Lake Monster is a wonderful movie for the entire family. It is an uplifting, encouraging, and sweet film. The relationship between Lucy and her PaPa is magical and tender. Their chemistry as grandfather and granddaughter will definitely warm your heart. Loved the movie and highly recommend it!!! It's a movie of hope and faith ... of the need to always have that "childlike faith." The actors in this film were spectacular and made me feel as if I were a part of their lives in this film. So many blessings throughout the film of morality and goodness to others - how to treat others even in the hardest of times. Wonderful movie!

Lucy: Well, I asked two questions. My first question was, if God made the world, who made God?

Papa: That's a really good question. What did she say?

Lucy: Don't interrupt, Lucy. And the next question was, if God knew that the snake was evil, why didn't He protect Adam and Eve?

Papa: Wow. I've wondered that, too. What did she say?

Lucy: She didn't say anything. She just kicked me out.

Papa: Listen to me, sweetheart. I want you to know something. God never kicks you out of His family, and not all churches and people are like that, okay?

      Lucy: Okay.
