It's actaully really good now ! Comparing to seasons 1-2 its like night and day !
Wow... This is how they should have rebooted the Star Trek franchise TV shows in the first place! It's really like meeting old friends again you haven't seen for years! Beautiful shots, beautiful music, and characters also are now much much better! I absolutely love the new captain he is the best new NuTrek character! It has interesting mysteries and emotions! Stakes this time seems really much higher, visually it's also nice now, seems better lit! I have high hopes ! It's also pretty funny now as well! I can praise how good the first episode was all day long but. You definitely need to see it for yourself - I highly recommend it! Picard season its a surprise to be sure but a welcome one!
A return to Berman era!
I have to say having watched the first Episode of Picard season 3 and having an understanding of the wider context of what has gone into making Picard season 3, the first episode made me genuinely feel I was watching a sequel to post Nemesis. The visual continuity, storytelling, musical ques are very much part of the DNA of Berman era and classic Trek. Yes the sets are bit dark for my liking, but the fact that the world I was immersed in regarding the first episode, made me believe I was watching a sequel to Berman era trek for first time since Enterprise. I really hope Terry Matalas is given the reins to future shows.

Forget Season 1 and 2. Start here
This is how you properly bring The Next Generation into the future. Some fun banter and references, great music cues. Fantastic visual effects and sound design. I'm not sure if they can keep this up for the duration of the season but this is such a great start. The previous seasons also had pretty decent first episodes so I am weary but optimistic because the new show runners seem to get it. There are a few scenes that are taken straight from older Trek movies like when they leave space dock and my god I had the chills. Only concern is the Raffi subplot. She doesn't do it for me. Never has. I know they'll tie her into Seven and their relationship but I just don't care. Bring on the rest of the season!!
Season 1&2 were trash. Season 3 is fantastic!
Seasons 1 & 2 were utter trash. Embarrassingly so. However, miraculously Season 3 is fantastic so far. Things could tailspin, but Terry Matalas (season 3 show runner) was a writer for Voyager, DS9 and Enterprise, and it shows.
Picard finally acts like Picard. Riker is even better than he was in TNG, Crusher was a sight for sore eyes. Loved seeing Seven finally in Starfleet Uniform and even Rafi was tolerable. Fingers crossed they do something redeeming with her this season.
I'm buying this the moment it lands in Blu-ray to sit alongside my Star Trek Next Generation Blu-ray collection and I'm considering it a direct sequel.
Do yourself a favor and skip seasons 1 & 2 if you plan to watch, and start with this season. You won't regret it.

That incredible feeling, it's all here.
Everyone I'm sure will have high hopes just like me. But before we get into the details, let's talk about the feeling. It all comes back and if you're like me those feelings go way back. To the beginning. The very first season. Sitting on the floor in the den, so excited for each episode. It was the best thing in the world. Well, all these many many years later not only am I older, not only are we older, but the crews of the Enterprise, their families... all off us, older too. What doesn't get old? The feelings, the excitement, the anticipation. This first episode delivers. Can't wait for the next episode! It doesn't have to be perfect. This first episode wasn't. They don't have to be a 10 out of 10. The feelings and the joy, the thrill of these strange new worlds is still there. That's enough for me.
The adventure continues. So do our lives. Make it so.
