When Aleksey, a distinguished Berlin-based Russian history professor, learns his former longtime girlfriend is set to be married in just a few days, he impulsively rushes off to their native St. Petersburg to win her back.

Aleksey, a middle-aged Russian history professor having lived the past 30 years in Berlin, haunted by memories of lost love and trapped in a web of nostalgia, embarks on an unwanted and desperate trip back to his hometown of Saint Petersburg to find his ex-girlfriend, Nadia, before she marries another.
